A recent study of claims data on more than two million motorcycles insured over the past three years by The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies, the country's largest motorcycle insurer, uncovers the makes and models of bikes most and least likely to be stolen or crashed.

Motorcycle Thefts:

Most Likely to be Stolen

1. Suzuki GSX-R Series

2. Yamaha YZF Series

3. Honda CBR Series

4. Suzuki Hayabusa

5. Kawasaki Ninja Series

Least Likely to be Stolen

1. Suzuki Savage

2. BMW R1200C

3. Honda Rebel Series

4. Honda Shadow Series

5. Yamaha V-Star

Motorcycle Crashes:

Most Likely to be Crashed

1. Suzuki GSX-R Series

2. Kawasaki Ninja Series

3. Suzuki TLR

4. Yamaha YZF Series

5. Honda CBR Series

Least Likely to be Crashed

1. Yamaha Virago Series

2. Honda Rebel Series

3. Suzuki Savage

4. Harley-Davidson FXR

5. BMW R1200C

So what does this mean for bikers?

If you choose a motorcycle that's involved in more crashes or is stolen more often you'll most likely pay more for insurance.

Since I ride a Harley 94' Nostalgia, I feel better about riding my cycle. This article makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about riding a Harley.

I kinda feel left out. I own 10 dad blame motorcycles and none of them made the list. Not a single one. Zero, Zip, Nada. Should I be offended? Can I sue someone? Anyone?

Nice to see no Bandit 1200s on there. I insure my bike through Dairyland.

Progressive specializes in hard-to-insure people. Did you ask them why they increased it? Maybe there was an error on your record.

I was on Williamsbridge road in the Bronx, NY yesterday and saw a guy right in front of me get plastered beneath an SUV. It was really scary and the guy literally looked like ground beef. The guy who hit him was making an illegal U-Turn and just crushed the guy.

The rider looked like had a few breaks and things but was likely to make it.

I called 911 and got some Jamaaican lady who could not understand me, which was aggravating to say the least.

Anyway, I have been considering riding and even took the MSF course. However, I wonder if this was a sign from God?????

That would be Peter B. Lewis. Here's a picture of a building he donated to CWRU in Cleveland:

He's into "art".

Anyone who rides a motorcycle is at great risk for great injury.

Spoke with, saw photos of, reviewed medical records of a man who was injured when a van turned left in front of him on his Harley.

Most of the bones in his face had were broken along with his pelvis. His injured testicles were the size and color of an eggplant during the lengthy hospital stay. Has many residaul effects

The Hayabusa would be a little difficult to catch. But it can't outrun a Motorola police radio.
