Not true.
Enough members leave and talk about it that its not a big problem for them.
To top it off, they are not violent or dangerious or anything though they are a bit litigious (I wish TROP was like that).
That said I knew 2 folks who were "scientologist", best I could figure out, they joined for the networking and connections. I don't know where they are now, but they were trying to get into the entertainment industry and were having some luck.
I think its a scam masquarading as a networking/contacts/spirituality with no strings attached corporation/cult. Works for some folks.
"they are not violent or dangerious"
Except they have been directly involved in the death of more than one person. Scientology is very dangerous.
Sure looks like it.
A couple of members may have done something but they are about as dangerious as Buddhists.
These guys are about as scary as the dala lama.
That's not what the aliens in my body tell me.
I'm starting to not like Tom Cruise. He's been OK in some movies, but I'm starting to think he's a phony. Why is he getting remarried so quickly?
I know about the rumors, I'm starting to believe them.
Not that it really matters or is any of my business of course.
"I think its a scam masquarading as a networking/contacts/spirituality with no strings attached corporation/cult. Works for some folks."
So did the Pablo Escobar organization.

So what do they get out of it? I know that Katie becomes more famous as a result (after all, she herself admitted that she wasn't among the more famous actresses and her last few movies didn't do so hot). What does the Ayatollah Cruisemeinei get from it? More publicity among the younger segment of the population? A chance to deflect those gay rumors?
Wow, you must know some extremely nasty Buddhists.
She is the only weak link in the superb cast for Batman Begins, though to be fair, she didn't suck or anything.
TomKat is funny.
Keep in mind, Scientology is very anti-gay, and they believe they can cure it, just like they claim they can cure drug abuse.

Every religion has its rouge members, its when the mainstream of that religion becomes (or naturally is) dangerious that I then care.
That said, what is it, Tibet or something, with the monks who know martial arts?
They told her they'd fix anything she didn't like about herself with classes. She ended up moving from a nice apt. to a place slightly better than a cardboard box so she could afford more classes. Then she quit her job and started working for them. Read that XENU story to see how much they get 'paid'. Last I heard she lives in one of their commune houses and that extra 10 pounds 14 years ago turned into 40 or 50 now.
I agree in general with what you're getting at but just so that I understand your point, let me ask you :
