If the story about a contract with Cruise is true, it could be her "conversion" is a fraud. Damned If I Know

The old "X-Files" spinoff "Millenium" did a spoof of them a few years ago that was absolutely brilliant. The spokesman was dressed like the Chicago Nazi from "The Blues Brothers" and threatened to sue them for so much as looking at him crosseyed.

How I wish Heinlein had just given Hubbard the grand.

If you think people get to change their mind about Scientology, then you probably haven't read enough Scientology horror stories.

Are you serious? The "bet" was between Robert Heinlein and L. Ron Hubbard?

Sounds like the vast majority of DUers are scientologists.

Part of the brain-bending belief system is that humans are infested with the souls of dead space aliens who were brought to Earth 75 million years ago.

ya think?

I bet Nicole Kidman would love to have a sit down with Katie, unfortuntely it never seems to do any good, the new one never believes the experienced one

I would love some reporter at a huge media covered event to ask Tom C. or John T

"So Tom/John do you really believe that humans are infested with the souls of dead space aliens who were brought to Earth 75 million years ago."?

That's what Scientology does. They get a convert and follow them to make sure that no one tries to "unconvert" them.

"Are you serious? The "bet" was between Robert Heinlein and L. Ron Hubbard?"

I wasn't there but that's the story. The bet was that Hubbard couldn't invent a religion and attract actual followers. It supposedly went to Hubbard's head when he actually got followers to join up (Think of trekies or the star wars fanatics)so he wrote more. The more fantastic his religion/fiction got, the more committed his followers got. They even interpreted his somewhat early death as proof that he had to move on to a higher plane.

This is probably no different from what many "prophets" have done over the ages. I have my own list of likely charlatans but propriety suggests I not offend their followers here.

the belief goes, their souls slip out of the body and float around seeking another to inhabit.

No wonder TC was so convincing in Interview With A Vampire! They're Body Snatchers! The Puppet Masters!

I don't think you're allowed to change your mind about scientology. And if you do, you aren't allowed to say so publicly.

LOL, as if it were real.

He was convincing because in his head it was real.

Heck if I know but it amazes me that these people are called beautiful based upon some highly airbrushed photos - when this is what they look like in real life!

Scientology = Star Trek for the dumb. It is compelete with UFOs. Nothing but a con for the weak minded and thick checkbook crowd. It isn't even a cult, just a scam.
