VERY typical to blame the victim and/or her parents.
Requesting that the parents take polygraph tests would be more like SOP in an investigation in the US. One of the first steps in an investigation involving kids is to rule out the parents as suspects.
One of the things that I find a bit curious and in need of explanation is that the parents hopped a corporate jet & arrived in Aruba very soon after Natalie went missing, conducted an independent investigation &, apparently, did not contact the Aruban police until something like 10 pm.
I can certainly understand the urge to get on the scene as quickly as possible and doing some independent nosing around. What I find a bit unusual is the private jet and the delay in notifying authorities.
All of this may have been explained & I missed it. That said, explanations need verification, something a polygraph would help with.
Another question I have is what company supplied the jet & what the parents/ stepdad do for a living & is there a possible connection?
The parents used a jet provided by someone's companhy, maybe her father. They arrived at 10 PM that night and by 1 the mother had gone to C and C , talked with cabbies and told the cops Jordan was the last seen with her daughter. At that time the cops had "no leads" and were not in any hurry to get them.
THe police were not moving on this, the parents did whast any of us would do and got the cops in when they went to Jordan's house.
I don't get why anyone would be suspicious. they were told at 2 pm and were on the ground in Aruba at 10. And they called politicians in the US to get the FBI involved. I hope if this happened to my kid I would be so proactive.
A private corporate jet of a family or friend is not suspicious at all. Her first husband I do believe had the company that provided the jet.
I Don't know about that but I believe her natural father is an insurance agent for a major company...
That might make sense if she had disappeared here in the US.
The most extensive description of the first 24 hours of the investigation is at www.riehlworldview.com , the "Details Of The Initial Investigation Into The Disappearance Of Natalee Holloway," over half-way down that page.
Evidently, (1) there was no delay in notifying authorities, and, (2) given the Mountain Brook community, the corporate jet is not very remarkable. Maybe next, some posters will be blaming the Martians - they're about the only ones left who haven't been called to task.
