I think the parents have bought into a legal eagle or two telling them they can work this thing to get info and resolve the case. Not likely. We keep thinking we can use USA muscle in foreign countries. Doesn't happen.

One thing that noone on these threads has mentioned is the Dutch criminal system's punishment for crimes.

In the Netherlands (the law of which Aruba follows), the maximum sentence for murder is 20 years. Yes, in rare occassions, a life sentence (not mandatory) may be given, but the circumstances must be extraordinary (multiple murders; prior convictions, etc.).

Some research on the Dutch punishment system shows that a typical murder sentence is about 15 years, shortened by about 1/4 for good behavior. Attempted murder gets you about 3 yrs.
