Most of us have grown to love Natalee and her precious Mother, and have adopted them as family. If that doesn't make us "fair and balanced", then so be it..
But I have to say, that JVS's Mother honestly believes in her son. I can't fault the poor woman for that. It's a tragic mess, brigette.
It is getting to the point that I am about to quit posting on FR about the Natalee case.
I am actually thinking about starting a private Yahoo group so that regulars can post about the case without having trolls interfere in it.

I'm glad to hear someone else express an ounce of sympathy for at least one of the Van der Sloots.
While I don't claim to have any special insight into anyone's behavior or motives, I believe the van der Sloot parents are sincere.
Before some overheated poster jumps me for sympathizing with the parents of an obvious murderer, let me say that yes, IF it turns out Joran van der Sloot is a murderer, then he should fry.
But I don't think that's at all obvious yet, and I'm surprised at how normally reasonable FReepers get so rabidly un-reasonable over this case.
So many here are quick to seize only upon 'facts' or 'evidence' purveyed by the media that suit their prejudices --and to reject all other facts and evidence that don't.
I think we should all pause and consider how very little we REALLY know about this case.
One thing we DO know here at FR is how mendacious --and how utterly WRONG-- the media often are.
