You're right, twigs, and I wrote that before hearing on Greta that mamma sloot's visits with Joran were being monitored.
This is pure speculation on my part and I should probably put it in Private Mail to you, but my take is that Mamma Sloot is the dominant parent & spouse. While out of the country, her pathetic head-in-the-sand husband can't even keep his no good son at home the second night of Natalees disappearance!!!
Personally, I think daddy sloot knows his son is neck deep in Natalee's disappearance. He's the nerdy type who has lost complete control of his kid and has thrown his hands in the air. Now, he's just hoping to keep him out of prison for the rest of his life.
Enter momma sloot: The woman gives an Academy Award performance on what a sweet, responsible and great boy Joran is and tells the world that he is also a victim with tears streaming down her face. Too bad her words do not only pass the smell test, they don't even match up with his actions.
All I have heard is that the Aruban spokespersons, lawyers and journalists on TV are either afraid to talk or really believe that the problem is the US media and Twitty family and refuse to shine that same light on their own system. The Arubans OUGHT to be tired of this! Then they need to go and do something about it. Instead of blaming the Americans (who contribute substantially to their tourist-based economy) and the Twittys.
Frankly, I'm tired of countries and people around the world who trash America and our liberties and economy, yet keep their hand out for some that afore-mentioned liberty and wealth.
Nita, I do believe you've nailed them (the sloots)
If Joran admits to raping her, killing her, and dumping her body in the ocean...he'll probably do about 12 years.
It was a desperate and bad move on mamma's part, IMO.
Are you serious? Where did you get that information?
Greta's probably having a hard time being an unbiased journalist right about now. I've heard her say several times how the Fox News people don't just "report the news" on these types of stories -- they go around and visit and get to know the parties involved.
Someone on this thread mentioned how Greta had sold out by doing the VDS interview, but I disagree 100%. That's what I expect. I want to see both sides so I can make my own decision.
Latest developments in Aruba (Thursday): AweMeinta reported today that the investigation has reached a 'deadlock'. The Aruba media is also reporting the same. Apparently there arent new leads to follow and the Aruban authorities are searching in the dark. Hasibokos.com has learned that the authorities are putting a lot of pressure on the four suspects who are now in custody right now. They are trying to get more information out of them, but this has not (yet) resulted in new leads. Hopefully the arrival of the search team from Texas will give new perspective on this case, cause if we summarize what the Aruban media is reporting right now: ' The investigation is STALLED'
I hope that I'm NEVER in any type of situation like Mrs. Twitty is now in. But if I am, she will be my role model. What an amazing woman. She's tough, firm, but gracious under fire. My husband has been as impressed as I have. I truly think that if it had not been for her persistence, two men, probably innocent, would have been charged with Natalee's disappearance. Men of color, maybe chosen for that reason in that colonial Dutch paradise. She is helping insure that real investigation and real justice will take place there. The Arubans don't like her because her persistence is helping reveal their own deeply rooted darkness.
do you think that if her dad and stepdad were allowed to be alone with each of these punks for a little bit, some new info might be brought out?
Information from earlier posters with credible cites of Dutch Law. If I re-locate them I'll pass them along. I believe the absolute maximum for murder was 20 years...and most thought 12 - 14 years, if Joran was found to be guilty.
Roger that, with a big 10-4. NSNR
I know this isn't real popular around here, but I like Greta; of course, I'm a court reporter and an unapologetic trial/crime junky!
It was in Rippersnapper's post 1529. Rip heard a comment from Greta on O'R..
I just rewatched the video of Beth and Greta coming out of the Van der Sloot's. I didn't see Beth exactly recoil - I sensed more weariness on her part.
I haven't made up my mind about the Aruban police. They certainly missed some valuable opportunities early on, but like you, I think they might be more competent than we think. But I'm not sure. I have decided one thing, however. Even though our media drives me nuts and the details on cases like this often turn out not to be true as reported, NOT having a free press is even worse. The rumor and inuendo that flys down there because the authorities aren't saying anything is far worse than the mistakes that crop up in our own free, and often irresponsible, press.
I'm afraid that is what is going to happen: those guys won't talk and this thing is basically over.
Ah, yeah.
i like greta also. by and large she is pretty fair. i think she has been great on this case.
Sounds good to me, please don't be stingy with the alcohol. NSNR
