But of course, the Dems always close ranks and protect their own. Trent Lott, on the other hand, got hammered. No matter how much he apologized, it was never enough. Yet the Democrats can "apologize" by saying, "I regret that most Americans are too stupid to understand my exalted intellect," and they figure that takes care of everything!
