In a second attempt at damage control, the first being his spin and refusal to apologize on the floor of the Senate, Dick Durbin once again fails to retract his accusation that U.S. Marines along with other Americans acted like Nazis, Soviets, and the Kmher Rouge at Guantanimo Bay. The Senate must censure him. The damage he has done with reckless and false assertions about Americans is immense. How long will it be before the Senate holds him accountable for such a despicable act?

What Durbin said:
...our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support. What Durbin was thinking: ...our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support, but they're not getting any respect from me.

True, but the cost for his twisting is too high.

"This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners."
This, after the references to Pol Pot, etc.
No misunderstanding here: Sick Turban.

"I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood," said the Illinois senator."
No, Senator, we understood EXACTLY what you meant. It was as clear as the spit I wiped off my uniform at O'Hare airport in 1970. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was YOUR spit.

I'm convinced little Dicky Durbin is the bastard son of Hanoi Jane and Al Jazeera :)

"I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood. There are no historical parallels here Senator.
Until he realizes that, any thing he says to try to back out of this is meaningless.

Thanks for the link, here's my note to him:
Senator Durbin,
Your comments comparing the actions of our military interrogating KNOWN TERRORISTS and ENEMIES of this country to the actions of Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot were DISGRACEFUL.
It is too bad that you allowed your political ideology and need to embarass our president led you to make these harsh and slanderous remarks.
Isn't it time to think of what is BEST for AMERICA, rather than what is best for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY?
Howard Dean is teaching you all very well.
Man that felt good.

How long will it be before the Senate holds him accountable for such a despicable act? This is largely the same Senate that refused to allow witnesses during Bill Clinton's impeachment trial. The Senate also imposed an artificial "time limit" on the proceedings so the Senators could punt at first down and 10.

"... the cost for his twisting is too high."
The damage has been done, true. However, the results are going to be far different than they were during the Vietnam Era.

"I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings: our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support."Sincerely regret IF? What kind of mamby-pamby bullspit is that? Only thing worse than this idiots original comments is his half-ass attempt at an apology. I don't suspect anyone "misunderstood" his true feelings.

Great Letter!!!
Former Dodger wrote: "Man that felt good."
Toss that thought on top of the comments of a few thousand other pissed off Americans and perhaps Durbin and Co. will 'feel' it too.

Can ANYONE explain why he isn't being asked by administration and leading GOP party officials to resign his position in the Senate: aka Trent Lott???
Personally, I think he should be charged with sedition

That's a non-apology apology.
Your feelings were NOT misunderstood, Senator.
What you meant came through LOUD AND CLEAR.

This is not an apology. It is the usual arrogant statement that he regrets he was misunderstood. We are too ignorant to understand the bigger picture. Dirt Bag Durbin is just the usual arrogant democRAT who has defamed our honorable men and women in the Armed Forces.
