Howard Dean, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, issued the following statement condemning the distribution of anti-Semitic literature at an overflow room of an event organized by staff of the United States House of Representatives Judiciary Committee:
"Yesterday members of the Judiciary Committee held an important hearing on the so-called Downing Street Memo and its implications. Unfortunately, some members of the audience took it upon themselves to distribute anti-Semitic literature at the Wasserman Conference room where an overflow crowd observed the proceedings on television. We disavow the anti-Semitic literature, and the Democratic National Committee stands in absolute disagreement with and condemns the allegations.
"As Americans we believe in the right to free speech, and as Democrats we open our doors to a variety of opinions and perspectives from our fellow Americans. Unlike the current administration, we do not believe that closed hearings, restricted audiences, and carefully scripted meetings are good for our democracy. But anti-Semitism and bigotry are unacceptable and un-American, and they have no place in civil political discourse. As for any inferences that the United States went to war so Israel could 'dominate' the Middle East or that Israel was in any way behind the horrific September 11th attacks on America, let me say unequivocally that such statements are nothing but vile, anti-Semitic rhetoric. The inferences are destructive and counter productive, and have taken away from the true purpose of the Judiciary Committee Members' meeting. The entire Democratic Party remains committed to fighting against such bigotry."
What a joke this whole "DSM" thing is.
If this was the meeting called by reparations john conyers (africanhyphenamerican-Michigan) to push for impeachment of President Bush, it was attended predominately by members of the congressional africanhyphenamerican caucus according to comments made by Rush yesterday. If that is so, it is no surprise that there was anti-semetic literature distributed. Cynthia McDimmy (africanhyphenamerican-zimbabwe), and Marxine Waters (africanhyphenamerican-California) have made anti-semitic comments in the past. Of course, the lamestream media choses not to make a big issue of it.
It will be interesting to see who it was that was handing out the literature (nazis, marxist/leninist ANSWER types, pro-pali libs, pro-pali muj, Nation of Islam, National Alliance etc.).
There are a lot of "usual suspects" for this nonsense.
Dean's statement might be funny if the whole thing were so pathetic and damned tragic.
dung.
Dean's statement is useless unless Rep. Conyers and his supporters also disavow claims made in the literature.
The left can't seem to decide whether the Bush administration is run by the house of Saud or the gov't of Israel.
Why should Dean denounce the memo? Anti-Semitism is comfortably at home within the Democratic Party. A quick visit to DU will confirm this.
It is frustrating for conservatives to understand American Jews as they are anti-gun, pro-gov't and supportive of an anti-semitic political party.
American Jews are prone to all the mistakes of their ancestors.
anti-Semitic = bad
anti-America = good?
I agree!
I'm in California so I sent some email off to Boxer & Feinstein (and one to Durbin for good measure). The dems really need to get their asses handed to them over this one. I mean, Dean was funny, but Durbin is tragic.
Everyone ought to take a minute and write their state Senators on this issue. They need to feel the outrage.
dung.
So, how do they explain the anti-Semite who directly testified on Conyers side of things? Forgot to mention that, didn't ya Howard!
But this time, they brought it inside -- inside the US Capital. Maybe this time they will be made to pay.
Dems: It's the joooooooos!
"Everyone ought to take a minute and write their state Senators on this issue."
I'm going to take a little time a do that, and I'm going to make it an "open letter" and send it to the papers as well. My senators are Corzine and Lautenberg, so it probably won't do any good, but what the heck. Normally I try and pretend that Frank "the cadaver" Lautenberg doesn't exist, but he is a WWII vet and so one can only hope that he is not sympathetic to the treasonous and stupid remarks made by his fellow senator.
But, here's the thing, it takes me about 3 hours to write such a missive, so I'll have to make some time for it.
Who were they, Howie?
Inquiring minds want to know...
As long as it's done.
A short missive is better than none at all!
Semper Fi!
dung.
According to afterdowningstreet.org :
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/
We made history yesterday!
Thirty-five Congress Members attended a hearing organized by AfterDowningStreet.org and Congressman John Conyers. The hearing examined the question of whether there is good cause to investigate possible impeachable offenses by the President in his justification of the war.
And according to codepinkalert.org :
http://www.codepinkalert.org/article.php?list=type&type=64
The Coalition
....a group of organizationsincluding CODEPINK, Progressive Democrats of America, Gold Star Families for Peace, Democrats.com, Global Exchange, Veterans for Peace, and the Rainbow Push Coalitionunited to form the After Downing Street coalition.
I wonder which of the "coalition" groups working with John Conyers was passing out the literature. My guess would be Global Exchange, but I'd love to know!
FYI..there was a vote in the House yesterday..condemming the UN for all the anti-Israel and anti-Senmitic crap it had donw over the years..this was part of the Hosue move to cut the US funds to the UN..only 2 votes were cast against..Ron Paul and Cynthia McKinney..
Look on any news network... any major newspaper.
Except for FOXNews and the Washington Times, talk-radio & blogs, American's get DNC talking-points 24/7 from the MSM.
While the nation tends to be conservative... it steadily drifts left.
