I sank my tank at least once each year. My wingman walked up when I climbed out of the TC cupola and sat on the front fender. He walks up and stares without saying a word and utters, "Cpl Sm****c, you are Bog Beast".

It is all in the name of good training and when I do drive vehicles, I do know what to look for and avoid when in the field (though I am no longer a Marine Tanker).

If the terrain is unknown while driving over or idling on, you just best be careful if you get that sinking feeling. Otherwise, you will do what I had to do and dig out the mud and worm your way INTO the mud to attach the tow cables and that is not fun with how the tank could be positioned. (not that I know from personal experience..ahem) I had Marines grab ahold of my legs to pull me out if I got stuck or the tank lurched downward. What fun.
