india news:Muslims to get reservation for the first time

Andhra Pradesh on Friday became the first state to announce sweeping across-the-board reservations for Muslim by fixing a 5 per cent quota of government jobs and seats in schools and colleges for the minority community.

An ordinance bringing the new quota system into effect will be promulgated immediately.

The Cabinet on Friday accepted the recommendation of AP Commission for Backward Classes for the five per cent quota and said it would be under a new category called E, and will be in addition to the 25 per cent of seats reserved for A, B, C and D categories of backward classes.

Information and public relations minister Md Ali Shabbir told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that ministers had decided to apply creamy layer formula followed by the Centre -- in case of Backward Class reservation -- to Muslims here.

This would be in accordance with the direction of the high court, which wanted creamy layer among Muslims to be separated before providing reservation.

In some states Muslims get quota protection in jobs and education but not because of their religion.

Objectively, fairly and humanely how much reservation Indian Muslims should get? Answer: ZERO!Reservations for Muslims will further reduce opportunities for non-Muslims.With the goal of jihadis is to destroy the economic viability of India and increase Muslim population through massive infiltration from Bangladesh, it makes sense for the jehadis and their appeasers to reserve jobs for Indian Muslims. These reservations serve two purposes: 1) Deserving Hindus are kept away from jobs and become poor 2) undeserving Indian Muslims (who have shown strong leanings to extremism) get jobs and become more wealthy.

This policy of reserving jobs for muslims will only lead to more unrest among the hindus and might lead to communal tensions between the two communities!! and all this on top of subsidies muslims in india have been getting !!!!.Its only a matter of time before this policy of appeasement catches on in other states!!!!! The YSR govt. has shown that it's incapable of solving people's problems like poverty and lack of infrastructure!!! It has made no progress whatsoever over the "peace-talks' with the naxalites . Instead of dealing with these urgent problems the govt. is busy creating new ones!!! Appeasing Muslim vote bank has gone far enough. It has to end now.

"Andhra Pradesh on Friday became the first state to announce sweeping across-the-board reservations for Muslim by fixing a 5 per cent quota of government jobs and seats in schools and colleges for the minority community."

Pakistan just encroached its borders a little bit into India, and without a fight.

Exactly, and let's wait to see how long it will take for the Hindu backlash. If Pakistan had a real booming economy (instead of the dunghole that it really is) it could import poor Muslims from India.

Even without getting into general attacks on Muslims, it's pretty clear that this measure is a bad idea. Apart from anything else, it won't work.

I'm not opposed to affirmative action in principle. But for sixty years in India, affirmative action for "backward classes" (Yes, it means exactly what it says - backward classes have several categories, but are generally the people formerly called Untouchables - Dalits -, tribals in some areas, and some other disadvantaged lower castes) has simply not worked.

The system has been abused out of sight, with the *rich* backward class people receiving most of the benefits they don't need, and enhancing caste based divisions. The same thing will undoubtedly happen with Muslims.

The most important step required is to throw away affirmative action based on caste (or religion) and implement it based on economic need.

Of course, the chances of that happening...

I fully agree with you.The current system will benefit only the creamy layer among the " backward classes".the real poor will never get any benefit out of it!!!

This reservation thing is becomming a trend. Everybody wants to have it now....even Muslims!. Like the Muslims have been "historically mistreated"! Yeah right!

Like none of these communities getting the benefit of reservation are capable of achieveing anything through fair competition in FRee India.
