NYP: OVER THE LINE - Durbin compares U.S. forces to Nazis, Soviets, KHmer Rouge

For years, Democratic politicians have reacted with spit ting, consuming rage at the accusation that they are reflexively anti-military. That anger has, at times, been justified, as the charge has been thrown around too cavalierly. But Democratic anger has also been an effective tool because it puts Republicans on the spot, and usually Republicans back off when confronted.
You don't hear Republican politicians throwing around the "anti-military" charge these days with the abandon that, say, Democrats hurl the charge that Republicans are "anti-poor."...
Sen. Dick Durbin isn't some loudmouth caller to Air America Radio or some psycho poster on loony-Left Web sites like democraticunderground.com. He is a machine-cog pol from the state of Illinois. And he's a big, big cheese....
Now, at this point in a column on this subject, it's usually the time for the standard disclaimer that goes something like this: Yes, there can be bad apples in the American military. Yes, our techniques have been controversial and deserve serious debate. Yes, torture is bad. Yes, yes, yes.
No, no, no. Not this time. Dick Durbin has slandered the American military. He has slandered his country. He has defiled truth and he has spat on reason. He has given aid and comfort to all those who seek to use America's tough stance in the War on Terror as a recruiting tool for anti-Americanism.
He is the Senate's Democratic whip: a leader of his party by any stretch of the imagination. If he remains a leader of his party, his party deserves to be judged by his words by his anti-military, anti-American words.
Judged, and held to account.

It's time for Durbin to resign. He can become defense lawyer for terrorist on his own dime.
To: OESY
Podhoretz is wrong. Durbin is in fact a recent caller to Air America Radio where they let him rant on in defense of the indefensible.

Can you imagine the s**tstorm if a Republican had said this? Add Durbin's statements to those of Dean and I think the RAT party is exposing their true colors. The DemocRATS are hypocritical, hate America first, pathetic morons. It's people like Durbin that make me ashamed to be an American, not our troops, and certainly not our President.

Can you imagine the s**tstorm if a Republican had said this? If a Republican had said this, every single Democrat in congress would scream bloody murder, and the MSM would interview scores of veterans, holocaust survivors, Cambodians, and former inmates of the real Gulag. Every Republican politician who would stand still long enough to appear on camera would be put on the spot by a snarky reporter.
The story would be used to tar the GOP for the next ten years. Maybe longer.

I am actively outraged by Durbin's remarks. I am sending money and all the support I can to his future Republican opponent in the next election. This is the way to defeat these people...with hard cold cash to their political opponets.

The need to show Hillary as a moderate is getting very expensive for the Democrats. The MSM can only slow the bleeding.

I was so disgusted when I saw this that I e-mailed my Senator Saxby Chambliss. I told him that I fully support what our Goverment is doing in Cuba, that those murdering heathens deserve to reap what they have sown, and that I have yet to meet the American that actually gives a rats ass what our army does to those wackos. Just don't let em go....ever

Since this alleged FBI report is an official document it had better be guarded with armed guards with all the news about it. Don't forget sandy "the burglar" burger is walking the streets.

The beauty part of all this is when our soldiers start running for office there should be a new group of super hawks in congress. Pond scum like Durbin will be history and still pond scum..

Sen. Dick Durbin is a left-wing fascist, anti-American Nazi democrat. He should be in jail as he is a traitor and responsible for the death of American military and civilian personnel by giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
You Durbin are a disgrace and the lowest kind of scum. Whale manure is higher on the pole of life than you.
Resign and slink back off into your feces filled house.

Saxby and Johnny are great Senators. I called both yesterday and their offices were amazed at the response from our fellow Georgians on this issue. I told them Southerns are very patriotic folks and we love our soldiers and our country. They agreed.
