Republican and conservative activists are behind a vigorous campaign to promote a controversial new biography about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, with some even suggesting that the book will help dash any presidential aspirations she might have.
The prospect that Mrs. Clinton, who is up for re-election next year, may run for the presidency in 2008, has re-energized her opponents, who are seizing on the book, "The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President," as it is to be released next week.
Gopusa.com, a Republican Web site and news service, sent 500,000 e-mail messages with a line saying, "Publishing insiders say the book and its revelations could destroy her bid to run for the presidency in 2008."
The publisher, Sentinel, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA) that focuses on conservative views, has added to the atmosphere surrounding the publication. In a catalog sent to bookstores, the publisher, part of Pearson Plc., compared the book with the campaign by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that attacked the Vietnam record of Senator John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race.
In addition, the financing for a conservative Web site that is promoting the book comes partly from Richard Mellon Scaife, a longtime foe of the Clintons who tapped his fortune in the 1990's to finance a project at The American Spectator magazine to dig up damaging information about the couple.
The publicity surrounding the book, which reportedly includes sensational assertions about Mrs. Clinton's personal life, has stirred a fierce reaction among some of her staunchest supporters and others, who, legitimately or not, see a coordinated campaign to undermine Mrs. Clinton at a time she is taking more of a hand in national politics...

But Hernandez's hysteria may signal real panic in the Hillary camp, of a kind we didn't see among Bushies before Kelly released her silly tome. There may be much more in Klein's book than the two rather trashy tales you've mentioned. For example, if he has some info about the content of Hillary's missing senior thesis, that would be red meat for our side. We need to keep our powder dry, wait, and see what else there is in this book before we decide to "ignore" it.
I'm with you, on this, Miss M......leave this book alone....it's probably THEIR STRATEGY to get it out there and then say we beat her up about it. And, then, the "poor Hillary" crowd chimes in.
Google is the New York Times of internet search engines. It's hacked and filtered.
They did not mention the author's name who happened to be the editor of their Sunday Magazine for a long time. The Times has not hit rock bottom yet.
This is true. Miss Marple is correct, however, in that traps are being set by the clintonoids.
Old media has zeroed in on outrageous charges that are irrelevant--or, for some of the charges, at most peripheral--(to the issue of clinton character). (As 911 has demonstrated, character DOES count.)
There are many legitimate reasons (some even outrageous--the shameless clintons, after all, commit outrageous crimes) why, to quote J. Bradford DeLong, a professor of economics at Berkeley and a veteran of the Clinton administration, "Hillary Rodham Clinton needs to be kept very far away from the White House for the rest of her life."
But being a lesbian or a rape victim, whether imagined or real, is not among them.
Being a rapist is, though....
Klein has, perhaps inadvertently, already smoked the lovely couple out on the matter of the Broaddrick rape.
See my previous post, NOTE THE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN CLINTON REACTION TIME AND CONTENT TO THE TWO RAPE CHARGES, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1421797/posts
Typical NYT bias. The book itself is not newsworthy, but the conservatives promoting it are.
fyi (thx for the ping)
To self: You forgot to mention HILLARY CLINTON ATTACK WOMEN fed into GOOGLE, accessed Free Republic posts in the first two instances. This gave the infor, besides the third entry.
"I believe Armand Hammer was Algore's Godfather. In any event, Al Gore, Sr. was a wart on his @ss"
Well that would explain how big Al Gore became such a sociallist.
Mr. Hammer and Senator Gore, Sr. were very connected. Hammer bought Algore Sr.'s office and did as he was told. In return, Mr. Hammer made them rich. Even today, Algore, Jr. sits on the board of Occidental Petroleum. Way back, Hammer gave the fabled Gore farm on the Caney River to the Gore for being so nice. Of course, you'll recall this is where Algor Jr. claimed during his campaign that he chopped trees with a double bladed ax, plowed fields with a mule and planted, hoed, chopped and cured tobacco (before his sister died of lung cancer). The land, BTW, is a holding over a Hammer enterprise - a zinc mine. Incidentally, Algore has been cited several times by the EPA for mine effluent discharge into the Caney River. Who the hell cares about earth being int the balance when its in their own back yard, eh?
Thanks for that feedback. Quite interesting. No I was not aware of the details you provided as how big al gore learned to eat tree bark. So, he is a major polluter ah. But what the heck. He is immune. After all he single handly invented the INTERNET.
