White House slams lawmaker over Guantanamo comparison to Nazis
WHITE HOUSE The White House is slamming a Democratic senator for comparing interrogation tactics at Guantanamo Bay to those used by the Nazis, the Soviets and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Press Secretary Scott McClellan calls Dick Durbin's remarks "beyond belief." He says U-S soldiers "go out of their way" to treat prisoners humanely.
Durbin -- the Senate's number-two Democrat -- took to the Senate floor Tuesday to read from an F-B-I report describing treatment at the prison for terror suspects. He then said if a listener didn't know, he or she might think the account concerned the Nazi, Soviet or Cambodian regimes.
McClellan called the remarks "reprehensible."
But Durbin's office says he's not apologizing. He says it's the administration that should apologize for practices that are tantamount to torture.
Dubin should be arrested and tried for aiding and abetting the enemy during time of war!
Democratic Party leaders believe they are having a problem getting their message to the American Public. They do not think they are connecting. The Partys real problem is that we are getting the message loud and clear. The elected Howard Deans message is that Republicans are evil, white, Christian, war mongering, wealthy, racists bigots that only care about big business. Several Democrats, including Dick Durbin, chatter nonstop about how incompetent our military is, or liken them to Nazis. From Abu Ghraib to Gitmo to recruiters in schools they pounce on every opportunity to ridicule our men and women in service. Their message to me is that Democrats do not have the stomach for war, do not like the military and are weak on national defense. Democrats first said there is no problem with Social Security before they said there is but will not talk about it. The message here is that Democrats will hinder all progress in this country to make sure Republicans fail to do anything positive. Democrats have resorted to using filibusters on the Presidents nominees much the way Americans use spoons. The message here is Democrats like to empower lawyers in the courts where judges can legislate liberal social agendas. I wish they would listen to Americas message to them. Their message to us is getting them voted out of offices everywhere.
Durbin is getting his Face Time, I hope his 15 minutes results in his Recall and Replacement and I hope it happens in record time.
Good thing he didn't say something REALLY offensive like "Happy Birthday, Strom Thurmond".
Get Real! Durbin is Brain Dead. He didn't get misquoted he didn't mean anything other than what he said. He should be stripped of his Senators cloak of invincibility and pay the Piper.
Who has said that?
The WH can't say this but other Republicans should not be asking for his apology - they should be demanding that he be censured in the Senate and calling for his resignation. We don't want his apologies.
Is this from the Anti Defamation League?
My point is that - You are being much too kind to the Senator.
Slightly off topic: Why is it that whenever I search on Google, the first 5 or 6 sites are left wing? I did a search on Dick Durbin Nazi to get the exact quote for myself and up comes 5 flaming liberal sites with Al Jazeera at the top. Is there a search engine for a red state girl in a blue state whirl?
This isn't surprising to me, at all. Every time a Dem opens his/her mouth, they tell you EXACTLY WHO THEY ARE and what their belief system is, along with continually proving that they're mentally ill.
I used to try to understand them. Then I pittied them. Then I laughed at them. Now, I just loathe them and get on with my life. ;)
Try dogpile
Its not my letter. Its the Anti Defemation League's.
It would be a nice dream to ponder a rouge SEAL team loose within this country to meet out justice the old fashion way...when it came to traitors. (They could call it the Andrew Jackson initiative.)
Once upon a time...the Benedict Arnolds of this country were hung. Now...we just let them inspire our enemies.
