Couldn't they have sent detectives to Caracus to investigate or did they?

I wondered why her family would not have hired a private detective to flesh out the validity of this story. If found to be true, I think I would then hire my own private militia to rescue my daughter.

I heard early on that we had sent people to Venezuela to investigate. It seems to me that Natalee must be dead. I would think that the perp would do himself a favor by revealing that she was sold into white slavery if he had done that. I would think things would go a lot easier for him if she were found alive. Since he hasn't talked, I assume she's dead. But I hope I'm wrong.

Well, at this late date, given the tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela, I don't think anyone investigators from the U.S. would be sent there now.

The brothel had burned down by the time authorities found out about the incident.

The US government is quite spineless when events like this happen. We left over 8,300 Americans in Korea. I have a book with vivid stories of people who were in prison camps in N. Korea after they were captured. Many F 86 pilots were shipped to China and Russia to aid their aviation program.

I know a person who knows names of people who were alive in Viet Nam when the war was over and have never come back.
We have over 80,000 missing in WW2. Aparently no one really cares or something would be done.
SAD that our government can't get them back if they are still alive.
