Rep. John Conyers, Jr., and other Democrats hold a public meeting concerning the "Downing Street Memo" and pre-war intelligence on Iraq.
On May 1, 2005 a Sunday London Times article disclosed the details of a classified memo, also known as the "Downing Street Minutes", recounting the minutes of a July 2002 meeting of Prime Minister Tony Blair with his advisers that depicted an American president already committed to going to war in the summer of 2002, despite contrary assertions to the public and the Congress. The minutes also described apparent efforts by Bush administration officials to manipulate intelligence data in order to justify the war to the international community.
The hearing is scheduled to be rerun on C-SPAN 2 at 8 p.m. EDT.

Reid is a scatter brain. His searchlight is not a straight beam.
On May 10, 1974, Conyers addressed an audience of 500 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Detroit during the opening rally of the convention of the Communist-front National Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression. The confab was chaired by then-Communist Party luminary Charlene Mitchell.
On September 30, 1975, members of the WPC were guests of honor at a Capitol Hill luncheon hosted by Conyers and Congressmen Ron Dellums and Philip Burton. A few days later, on October 6th, Conyers was listed as a sponsor of a meeting in Detroit to welcome the WPC delegation headed by Romesh Chandra. In KGB Today: The Hidden Hand (1983), Readers Digest senior editor John Barron describes how "American Communists joined by non-Communists formed a National Committee to welcome Romesh Chandra [general secretary of the WPC] and the World Peace Council Presidential Bureau to a Dialogue on Disarmament and Détenté in Washington, January 25-28, 1978. U.S. Rep. John Conyers, Jr., heartily welcomed the group. You have joined us to give us courage and inspiration in our fight for disarmament and against the neutron bomb, he declared."
When the WPC formed its official American branch, the U.S. Peace Council (USPC), in 1979, Conyers was there. As one of the main speakers at the founding conference of the USPC, Conyers faithfully parlayed the Moscow line, calling on activists to work for passage of the Transfer Amendment to take funds from the defense budget and transfer them to "social programs."
I can't take any more of these mediocrities. Brit Hume's show is my retreat....a better class of people there.
Hon, we're the losers, so far. ;o(
Well, thank goodness we've got experts like you to rely on.
77-78: . ..in May 1981, [Don] Edwards joined two subcommittee colleagues, Pat Schroeder and John Conyers, in hosting a delegation from the Soviet front World Peace Council (WPC). Providing the WPC a forum in the halls of Congress, Edwards and Conyers invited fellow congressmen and staffers "to meet members of an international delegation. . .led by Romesh Chandra, president of the World Peace Council, to discuss the global impact of arms spending. . .the worldwide campaign against South Africa and Southwest Africa. . .and developments in Central and South America."
271-272: SANE has distinguished itself by sponsoring World Peace Council delegations on Capitol Hill. On May 5, 1981, Reps. John Conyers, Ronald Dellums, and Patricia Schroeder invited their congressional colleagues and staff to attend a two-hour briefing on "European Opposition to the New Generation of Nuclear Weapons." Speakers were Richard Barnet and Italian communist Nino Pasti, a former NATO general and now a WPC member. . .The following day, Congressmen Conyers, Edwards, [Mervyn] Dymally, [George] Crockett, [Ted] Weiss, and [Mickey] Leland invited their colleagues and staff to meet with WPC's president, Romesh Chandra, and six other WPC officials.
338: Radomir Bogdanov, [Georgi] Arbatov's most trusted assistant and IUSAC's deputy director, has long been affiliated with the KGB. In 1957 he began a ten-year tour of duty at the Soviet embassy in New Delhi, where he served as senior KGB operations officer. Under his command Indian Communist party member Romesh Chandra was groomed for active leadership. Later Chandra took charge of the World Peace Council.
In Covert Cadre: Inside The Institute for Policy Studies (1987), author S. Steven Powell describes how the IPS sought to directly influence Washington policymakers by establishing its Washington School, whose seminars served to "provide a forum at which the leftist community can meet on a regular basis" and "influence government policy making." John Conyers, described by Powell as "one of IPSs strongest supporters in Congress," was among the House participants in Washington School programs. Indeed, Powell asserts, Conyers "taught American Politics: Who Gets What, When and How at the Washington School with IPS fellow Michael Parenti, and served as a moderator for the IPS budget conference on Capitol Hill, February 2, 1983." In a June 1, 1979 New York Times op-ed piece co-authored with IPS co-founder Marcus Raskin, Conyers claimed that "governments responsibility is to revitalize the nations economy through creative forms of public ownership" i.e., socialism.
Sean did a wonderful thing. "Don't bother asking [for a room] again."
So much for "Mr. Chairman"! LOL
Poser.
Little Dicky Durbin (who wears a blood-red turban) really is an Eddy Haskell kind of guy, isn't he? Pathetic

I'm just wondering if she was the anti-war type before her son went in? Maybe he went in to get away from her? Who knows? Because she is spouting all the ant-war garbage the rest of those people do! I do have compassion for her as well. But a whole lot of other people lost someone in this war; and they are not out there trashing our troops, and their loved ones memory like she is!
Is it just me, or is this anti-America/anti-Bush/ anti-military getting bigger all of a sudden? Or is it the same bombastic, hysterical group as usual?
Same old, same old.
It's on now..cspan 2
That's the one
Oh my goodness! What a nightmare that must have been!
My EX has been ex for a long time, so I can scarcely remember what he was like!
