Report: Everett rips gays, fans, Wrigley

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Carl Everett has made more headlines for his controversial behavior and quotes than his play.

Updated: 9:20 a.m. ET June 16, 2005

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Carl Everett criticized gays, fans, Wrigley Field and other targets during an interview for the July edition of Maxim magazine, the Chicago Tribune said.

About homosexuals, Everett said "Gays? Being gay is wrong. Two women can't produce a baby, two men can't produce a baby, so it's not how it's supposed to be. ... I don't believe in gay marriages. I don't believe in being gay."

Everett has been one of baseball's more controversial players, most notoriously known for his confrontation with umpire Ron Kulpa in 2000 while playing for the Boston Red Sox.

The White Sox DH also ripped on baseball fans, saying that "Fan is short for fanatic — he's crazy about something he really doesn't know about. And it's proven that 99 percent of baseball fans have no idea what they're watching."

The laughable thing is that Everett said anything controversial about homosexuals.

Meanwhile, the "mainstream media" aren't writing or saying a word about Senator Richard Durbin comparing what is going on at Guantanoma Bay to the Nazi death camps.

Speaking such blatant truths is officially verboten!

I enjoy baseball quite a bit and probably go to about ten games a year.

I'm pretty knowledgeable about the game and sometimes wear an "authentic" jersey of one of my favorite players.

But there are a group of people who are so into baseball they can't even enjoy it in a normal way - for them it seems to have taken the place that religion and family hold in normal peoples' lives.

Everett has had it in for the East Coast media ever since the New York reporters claimed he was a child beater and tried to have his children removed.

Carl is deeply religious (and a little odd) but he gets along just fine with the guys who know him until the leftist media swarms in and tries to create controversy. That's what happened to him in New York and Boston (didn't happen to him in Miami, Houston, Arlington TX or Montreal). Now that the White Sox are in a pennant race, the Left apparently thinks they can "take him out" and indirectly knock the White Sox down a few notches so perhaps the Red Sox or the Yankees can make the playoffs.

That's how this all smells to me. They're going to Rocker-ize Everett because they know they can.

I never thought I would say something favorable about Carl Everett (who otherwise has been a big jerk in his career), but on this much he is absolutely right.

It should be noted that in the past Everett has also claimed that he doesn't believe dinosaurs existed either, and doesn't believe we've landed on the moon. I'm not making this up.

The MSM are crazed and upset anytime a Chicago team is in 1st place.

Yes. That was classic:

"God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and then made Adam and Eve," Everett said last Friday, before the Red Sox lost two of three in Atlanta. "The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can't say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them. Someone actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex."

What about dinosaur bones?

"Made by man," he says.

Everett has trouble, too, with the idea of man actually walking on the moon. After first rejecting the notion, he concedes, "Yeah, that could have happened. It's possible. That is something you could prove. You can't prove dinosaurs ever existed. I feel it's far-fetched."

By all means, file it as one of those "Stopped Clock is Right Twice a Day" references. I know absolutely nothing about this man, but I will defend the truth about what he said on this matter.

And let's get theis straight Freepers, there is not ONE Repub Senator that will go and take on Durbin, this is where the problem lies,

Senator Sessions spoke against what Durbin said in the Senate, but until the Repub Senators unequivocely denounce this idiot, Durbin will smile and not only get away with it, he'll score points with the leftist crowd.

I blame the Republican Senators for not holding Durbin's feet to the fire.

Not the Cubbies, they are the media darlings, the entire media hates the White Sox, in Chicago, Cry Baby Cubbie Carrie Woods gets 1 hour interview this week (he won 2 games all year) while Jon Garland won 11 games so far and gets zero interviews.

The White Sox is the media whores most hated franchise. One more reason why I'm proud to be a life-long, 3rd generation White Sox fan, currently the best team in the Major Leagues.

Will he be arrested when they play the Blue Jays or will he be denied entry into Canada under their Undesirable Persons Law?

Given that Durbin's comments are clearly fanning the flames of hatred and terrorism in the middle east, the Republicans should be demanding he retract such comments. But, then again, the Republicans in the Senate aren't exactly known for having a backbone.

Yes, if he made the comments in Canada, he would have been charged with hate speech. The upside would be the media probably wouldn't be allowed to print and condemn his comments or such newspapers would risk violating the same law.
