IQUITOS - What do you make of all this, given two people who knew him this morning says it was the same person? I find it interesting that at least somebody in this mess is an EMT, with lifesaving training, but am totally confused by all the postings below.

That steve on the left picture is innocent. he works with the red cross aruba, and he's helping the family of the missing teen !!! I'm his friend and I also work with the red cross ARUBA !!!

Dan, please post something about this. Contact Roel for confirmation. I find it very distressing to drag an innocent man into the equation, just because he happens to have the same name.

If you have info to suggest otherwise, post it. If not, this is just creating confusion and is very unfair to Steve Croes on the left.

I also find it mindboggling that people are saying that it's the same person. Obviously they haven't had exposure to mixed ethnicities.

Posted by: Getagrip | June 18, 2005 01:33 PMI agree! It took me about 5 seconds to decide these two were not the same. It is obvious to me (and a couple of others like yourself and Angie) that these two men are of different ethnicities.

Maybe Roel can clear this up because it isn't fair to drag the Steve Croes on the left into this.

Ok, just figured out why you think it would have 'tremendous ramifications'. Because SC on the left works for the Red Cross and has been involved in the search for Natalee?

Please, this is irresponsible. It's not the same guy.

Dan, if you want a real comparison why don't you put up the skinny version too? I don't think it is the same guy, the arubans on Scared Monkey who know the arrested Steve don't think it is him and the Arubans point out Croes is a common name. Roel knows of what he speaks I say take it down. There are differences in the nose, chin, and brow. We need to be more careful to protect the innocent and not go off on a tangent without a very solid basis.

"...take of the picture on the LEFT this is another steve croes as I told you stupid yankees before...>
Now...from what I have read on here, the question was asked to help clarify: "Are these two the same person?" I did not see where it was stated that they are. Rather I found that most thought they were not.

However, the reference to "stupid Yankees" is yet another telltale sign that the people in Aruba have little regard for the Americans who have spent millions of dollars there and provided that country with its main source of income! Remember the comment by the govt. representative about "...can't go in like cowboys..." in reference to going into van der Sloot's house to gather evidence? Twice now their disdain for us is showing. Let them make their living selling sand for all I care now. Any American who visits there and supports their economy does so knowing they have no respect or appreciation for anyone from the US of A.
