Governor preaches evils of taxes as he pushes his ballot measures

Schwarzenegger blasts Democrats and labor unions.

Garden Grove, Orange County -- Taxes are the real issue in November's special election, even if the question of a tax hike is nowhere to be seen on the ballot, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Wednesday.

For the second day in a row, the governor virtually ignored the nuts-and- bolts details of his three proposed initiatives and focused instead on taxes, which he warned that Democratic legislators will boost every time they get a chance.

Those legislators "want to raise taxes and punish all of you," he told about three dozen small business owners and their friends at a campaign event at an auto body shop. "There are all kinds of different taxes they're talking about, and I say 'No.' "

Since the governor announced the Nov. 8 special election Monday night, he's talked about property taxes to a group of mostly elderly homeowners in Santee (San Diego County), focused on sales taxes in Garden Grove and warned at a car wash in Bakersfield that the Democrats want to restore the car tax. He also promised that he would talk about taxes "from now to election day."

The governor's words came while Democratic legislators were voting Wednesday for a budget with no new taxes that was similar to the one Schwarzenegger proposed. However, Assembly Democrats failed in a separate attempt Wednesday to raise the income tax on California's wealthiest residents and use the money to pay for education.

Lets hope Arnold actually stands for something and not flip-flop again and blame his lack of knowledge on our language as the problem.

We must beat the drums and get out the vote for all of these propositions, and the ones yet to be officially put on the ballot as well. If a popular (despite what the MSM wants you to think) governor who is a good communicator can't convince CA to dismantle these auto-pilot budget busters, the state is lost.
