What a total waste of disk space.

No. It's a news story. You could address the points made in the article instead of lashing out. I find the story a little incredible myself. To me it looks like a bit like an urban legend that's made its way into the mainstream press, but to call it a waste of disk space sounds like you want to suppress it because you find it reprehensible.

It's true, I just googled some of the articles.

What they don't tell you is that is is a sect established in Africa.

We're talking black on black crime. Article makes it sound like some sort of KKK killings.

Here's a quote from the article I've linked:

"But Antione Lokongo, editor of the newsletter Congo Panorama, believes that “this is part of our identity, part of our culture, but it’s being exploited for economic reasons”, particularly in the United Kingdom.

Other observers say that great harm is also done by the practice in Africa and elsewhere, not just in Christian churches but in religious institutions associated with traditional religions.

Amma Anane-Agyei, a specialist social worker, has told reporters that spirit-possession is a traditional African belief that “has been internalised by black African evangelical churches.”

However Dr Robert Beckford, a senior black theologian from the University of Birmingham, has warned against the stereotyping of Africans and African religion."

The aim of the Met study was to create an "open dialogue" with the African and Asian community in Newham and Hackney. In discussions with African community leaders, officers were told of examples of children being murdered because their parents or carers believe them to be possessed by evil spirits. Earlier-this month Sita Kisanga, 35, was convicted at the Old Bailey of torturing an eight-year-old girl from Angola she accused of being a witch.

If there really is such a thing going on, it's not being done by Christians. It sounds like some immigrant Africans have mixed some aspects of Christianity with the superstitions and ceremonies of their native religion.

The same kind that would sell them for $30,000 ... except on a much smaller scale.

Either way it's sick.

These are not "Christian" churches. These are voodoo cults. They have no more to do with evangelical Christianity than Santeria has to do with the Roman Catholic church.

Kisanga was a member of the Combat Spirituel church in Dalston. Many such churches, supported mainly by people from West Africa, sanction aggressive forms of exorcism on those thought to be possessed.

Spiritualism, Yes. Christianity? NO.

Just because someone believes they have someone posessed by 'demons and evil spirits' and that those spirits, etc. can be exorcised does NOT mean they are Christian.

It uncovered allegations of witchcraft spells, child trafficking and HIV-positive people who believe that by having sex with a child they will be "cleansed".

An extract reads: "People who are desperate will seek out experts to cast spells for them.

"Members of the workshop stated that for a spell to be powerful it required a sacrifice involving a male child unblemished by circumcision. They allege that boy children are being trafficked into the UK for this purpose."

Only confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour can make them Christians. Their practices belie any such claim.

The extremely poverty stricken or desperate. Children have not always been considered a blessing; indeed in times of extreme stress they have been looked upon as unnecessary extra mouths to feed. During a famine in China a hundred years or so ago parents sold their children for food (as in canibalism). The parents reasoned they could always have more kids later.

This is absolute rubbish, probably sponsored by our 'peaceful muslim' invaders, or the ungodly left who actualy do sacrifice babies while they take drugs and play witches and warlock.

fundamentalist Christian sects

Murderous sacrifice is a sin, of course. But it is not unheard of for tribal/indigenous/natives/whatever-you-want-to-call-them people who have been converted to Christianity to intertwine their folk beliefs into their new religion. Look at the voodoo culture of the Caribbean. Still, it's hard to believe that child sacrifice is actually happening. Too weird.

To everyone:

Read the rest of the article.

More from the article:

Last month Scotland Yard revealed it had traced just two out of 300 black boys aged four to seven reported missing from London schools in a three-month period.

The true figure for missing boys and girls is feared to be several thousand a year.

The scale of the problem emerged through the murder inquiry following the discovery of a child's torso in the Thames in September 2001. The identity of the victim, named Adam by police, is not known but his background was traced to Nigeria. It is believed he died in a ritual sacrifice.

If you read the article, the crimes are (allegedly) being committed within the African community in London. It sounds like a mixture of different beliefs. (And, btw, Christians did burn witches at the stake many, many years ago. What you practice today is just a nicer form of Christianity).

Yuppers, and multi-culturalism strikes again.

This reeks of unfunny spoof/mischeif, but the website seems normal. Still, I think this is being spinned to be anti-christian, like you all said, because this seems to be more african cult involved. I mean, modern day christians believing in witchcraft in London. I dunno

STOP THE PRESSES!
I found the real news story: Scotland Yard has only investigated TWO out of hundreds of cases of London immigrant school children disappearing. We're not talking about CLOSING only two cases. These fascists who will spend years prosecuting every last person who found a musket to defend their homes have only ever even INVESTIGATED two out of hundreds of cases.

So, how do you bury a lead like that? Use the word, "Christian Fundamentalist" when reporting that some of the cases may have involved Satanic or pagan practices. Now, we're all in a snit about defending our faith from slander, while the GOD-DAMNED FASCIST LIMEY PIGS GET OFF SCOT FREE FOR ABANDONING THEIR DUTIES!

Actually, it appears to be the actions of a specific African Christian sect being called into question. And, if you've managed to read this far in the thread, the general consensus is they might be mixing animist or other pagan beliefs into their doctrine.

"This is London" is very mainstream, about halfway between McNiel-Lehrer and A Current Affair.

"The report was put together by an expert social worker and lawyer for the Met after talking to hundreds of people in African communities in a series of workshops. It uncovered allegations of witchcraft spells, child trafficking and HIV-positive people who believe that by having sex with a child they will be "cleansed"."

That's certainly no Christian church, it is SLANDERING Christian churches by suggesting they are though.

Christian fundamentalists have been adopting Jewish traditions, therefore it is natural for them to sacrifice children for the use of the blood in the matzoh.
