Company Announces Deal With Runaway Bride to Make a Movie About Her Life

Runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks made a deal with a company that is pitching a movie about her life to networks - annoying officials who spent thousands of dollars searching for her.

ReganMedia, a New York multimedia company, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for a story in Thursday's papers it has acquired all media rights to the "life stories" of Wilbanks and her fiance, John Mason.

The company did not say whether any money had changed hands.

"I am looking forward to developing the scripted project with Wilbanks and Mason," company president Judith Regan said in a statement. "Theirs is an unexpected and compelling story of love and forgiveness that has certainly taught me a thing or two."

I am waiting for the true story of a chicken farmer from the south who liked to ride county roads on his ATV for kicks and went paintballing every Friday.

Okay. I think the the state/federal government should be entitled to some of those profits to defray the costs of the massive search.

I did feel kinda bad for the neurotic thing. Now, with her trying to bank on it, screw her.

Her story taps into the common experience of "cold feet" and has the added marketing bonus of being well known via the news media. People will watch the movie and then take sides. Should she have married the rich guy? What did she really want? Is she crazy as hell? Did he really love her?
And on and on and on...

The problem is:

A)The story is already played out.
B)Shelley Duvall is too old to play her.

This is a big mistake on the part of Jennifer and John. The only foreseeable reason they seem to be doing this is for the money. She should heal herself spiritually and mentally, and not sell herself to the media for the highest bidder. The whole charade will sap any sympathy people have for her.

Why must TV makes these cheap, ridiculous movies? I know, the answer is money. Also, TV producers from the networks and cable always have an agreement with the subject to portray them in a favorable light. I watched a TV movie about the Mayflower Madam once and I thought I would wretch. I suppose next we'll have this:

Coming TO ABC this Sunday....

"The Michael Schiavo Story!!!!!

The true story of a man's love, and a struggle to save his wife's dignity against the forces of extremism and her unhinged parents. Catch it--this Sunday on ABC!

He sat in a seat on the aisle, placed his super size soda in the cup holder. Waiting patiently through the opening credits idly tossing down the popcorn a gnawing queasiness began to rise. Then full fledge realization slammed down on his pallid sweaty brow. CHICK FLICK!!!
