"Leaky" Leahy just equated US troops with terrorists
CNN's Inside Politics

Posted on 06/14/2005 1:02:26 PM PDT by ken5050

Leaky Leahy was just on CNN's Inside Politics, talking about his call to close the Gitmo stockade. Expanding upon his usual drivel, he just said the following..and this is just about verbatim. "The camp hurts us in the eyes of the world. IMAGINE HOW WE WOULD FEEL IF 200 AMERICANS WERE held under the same facilities for the same number of years..."

This in a nutshell, shows why the Dems are despicable and why the country will NEVER trust them with national security. The problem with Leahy's example is that it implies that Americans would be held the same way because they ahd done the same things.. they were acting as terrorists. This is an unmitigated slap at the US military..

Oh, yeah, Leaky, one more thing BTW..there was a time when hundreds of Americans were held in really lousy conditions, far, far worse than Gitmo, for over a year. It was 1980, at the American Embassy in Tehran..and your president PEANUTS smiled and let it happen. Is this what we want again?

It is time to take the gloves off with the Dems. The left wing of that party is insane, but now, in their blind hatred of Bush, they are seriously endandering our security, and the lves of our troops.

Gitmo is probably the most humane POW camp in history. But, then again, folks like Biden forget there's a war on with al Qaeda and the Talibangers.

Ya gotta laugh at people who constantly show far more concern for our enemies as they continually trash our efforts overseas.

I truly don't get how they could ever think the majority of Americans would ever sign up for that point of view

I guess we're just lucky they're not series about national security, unless of course it's about a spending bill full of pork that is.

I heard Leahy's statement, too. But not surprising, coming from him.

As Rush pointed out today, the amenities provided to the detainees warrant the place being named "Club Gitmo." Heck, based on just the menu, I'd like to vacation there!

It was called Vietnam. Remember? American service men captured and never heard from them again. Too bad all we hear everyday is the brutal treatment of these scumbags. Hanious tourture on how their Chicken Orlarange is tough and slightly dry!

As opposed to being tortured, beheaded, or otherwise killed? I'd feel rather good about it.

This is their new line of attack.

They want to close Gitmo and force the prisoners to be relocated on the mainland. Once on the mainland, they will argue that civil laws now apply and that the prisoners should be given access to civil courts and lawyers. This is their ultimate goal -- to get the prisoners onto the mainland and in front of civil courts!

Of course, Gitmo also has the appeal of being an island in case there is a breakout.

What happen to John McCain and the rest of our POW's in Vietnam .. tying their arms behind their backs and then hanging them from the ceiling by their hands for HOURS ... THAT WAS TORTURE

Making a Terrorist listen to Christina Aguilera and watch a puppet show in between going to BBQ's .. That is NOT torture

The Democrats are a COMPLETE disgrace to this country

What part of these Terrorists want to kill us Senator Leahey .. DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND!

I doubt it would be any worse than if they were dead, Sen. Leahy.

Someone should tell Leahy, the stupid leftist sonuvabitch, that most American prisoners held by the Islamic murderous bastards -- were beheaded BEFORE they could be as well treated and the bastards we have at Gitmo...

We should IMMEDIATLy shoot every sonuvabitch at Gitmo, and end this senseless discussion about how WE treated criminal combatants...

Shoot them all....NOW.
Then perhaps we should refuse to take prisoners in the future... If these bastards are NOT legally covered by the Geneva Conventions -- then they should be afforded NONE of the protections..

Hell -- we've never be able to expect similar treatment from the Islamanazis --- the incredible arrogance of the bastards DEMANDING we provide even MORE that we already provide -- is maddening!

F'em..

GITMO is paradise compared to the prisons in North Vietnam. There was real torture and other things that one should not mention. The democrats applauded the North Vietnamese and their actions and the left even helped with the torture. The founder of People for the American way was one of the traitors who helped the North Vietnamese and I do not remember one democrat in the Senate saying anything about the treatment of American prisoners in North Vietnam. This Senator is a coward and a liar and an anti-American TRAITOR.

We did that already with the 1993 WTC Bombing

It didn't work then ...and it won't work now

Leaky has gone from wackadoo to dangerous. Your example of what was allowed to go on under President Peanuts was spot on, and that's conveniently forgotten by Leaky and his ilk. I've gone beyond chuckling at Leaky to being dam angry and afraid when he talks.

Don't forget there is a potential slew of new Democrat voters in that deal also. Since the Dem party is losing voters anyway, this may be a quick and easy way to add voters.

I work with people who mostly are apolitical. But when they hear on the news from people who cry about the Koran or a little mistreatment of prisoners in Gitmo, their reaction is the same as ours. I guarantee that this position is costing the Dems but they seem to be more concerned with voters in France than in the USA
