Schiavo autopsy results to be released Wednesday

LARGO - The long-awaited results from Terri Schiavo's autopsy will be released Wednesday morning, Pinellas County officials announced today.

The brain-damaged woman died at her Pinellas Park hospice on March 31, two weeks after the removal of her feeding tube. During the course of the legal battle, allegations surfaced that Michael Schiavo abused Terri. Those complaints had previously been dismissed in court, but the autopsy is expected to settle that question for good.

The autopsy is also expected to reveal what condition Terri was actually in when she died. Her parents insisted that she was minimally conscious, but most medical experts agreed that her apparent responses were involuntary movements.

The autopsy was performed by Dr. Jon Thogmartin, the Pinellas-Pasco medical examiner. He is expected to talk at the 11 a.m. press conference Wednesday.

So well said. And Terri's family STILL, at this late date, does not know the condition/whereabouts of her remains, which, especially to/for a Roman Catholic, is beyond shameful. It is evil behavior, and extremely hurtful and disrespectful.

O.J. Simpson detective's book on Terri Schiavo nears completion

TAMPA - An investigator from another famous case is looking into what caused Terri Schiavo's initial collapse. According to Terri's brother, Mark Fuhrman approached his family about investigating Terri's short, sad life

Mark Fuhrman shot to fame during the O.J. Simpson murder trial. He was the prosecution's controversial witness, the cop who found the bloody glove.

Now, Fuhrman is investigating the Terri Schiavo case, with the blessing of Terri's parents and brother.

"He had contacted us and said that he'd like to come down and look into how Terri collapsed, and that's the first we heard from him. He asked if he could speak to us about that and we said sure, we'll tell you what we know," Bobby Schindler recalled.

According to the detective-turned-author, the book, called Silent Witness: The Untold Story of Terri Schiavo's Death, will answer the following questions: what was Terri and Michael Schiavo's marriage really like? What happened the day Terri collapsed? What did Michael Schiavo do when he discovered Terri unconscious? How long did he wait before calling 911? What do medical records show about her condition when she was first admitted to the hospital?

Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, have spent the weeks after Terri's death trying to keep her memory alive. That included a visit with Pope Benedict in Rome.

Now, the book may breathe new life into her Terri's case. Her parents did participate, but say they have no idea what will be in final print.

"I don't know what his book is going to say. I'm very anxious to see what his findings are and to read what he's found. But he did a pretty extensive investigation into what happened to Terri when she collapsed; we'll just have to wait and see what it says," Bob Schindler added.

The Schindlers say they are receiving no money from Fuhrman's book, which is supposed to hit store shelves later this month.

It has been plain throughout that Michael was acting out of hatred toward Terri, not love. Prince Charming does not steal his princess's rings, deny her antibiotics for a urinary tract infection, kill her cats and ask the nurses, "Isn't that b*tch dead yet?"

David Gibbs, the attorneys for Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, thinks Schiavo may have been abused, despite the findings of the autopsy released Wednesday.

Gibbs said the medical examiner couldn't rule out the possibility of trauma around 1990.

"What he said was that possibly the doctors missed it, possibly he can't see it, but he thought it wasn't likely," said Gibbs.

"If there is a woman, your wife, is down in the hallway, collapsed at 4:30, I think this 70-minute time period when all of this brain injury, when the blood flow is stopped, is very significant," Gibbs said.

"Right now, they want to evaluate the report. They're still grieving. They've lost their loved one. As a mom and dad, they watched their daughter literally starve to death before their eyes. They are wanting to defend Terri's legacy. They don't want any family to ever have to go through the nightmare they lived through."
