Believe me, Santa Maria is hardly Los Angeles. I grew up in the general region, lived & worked in Santa Maria proper for a short while, wrote numerous feature articles about it for a local paper over a number of years ... have about three generations of family roots there ... several streets there are named after my ancestors ... take my word for it, Santa Maria is about as much like L.A. as San Francisco is like Bakersfield.
Well, that's encouraging anyway.
