Live Senate Thread: C-span 2 2:00PM est..The LAST judicial nomination for the immediate future..
C-span 2

Posted on 06/13/2005 8:43:47 AM PDT by ken5050

Good Monday morning, fellow political junkies. Trust everyone had a good weekend. The Senate convenes at 2:PM this afternoon, still in Executive session, to consider the nomination of Tom Griffith to the DC circuit. Four hours of debate are schedued, and I believe Frist will ask for a vote at 6P unless the Dems object. Reid said that Leahy has some reservations about the nominee...Oh, Joy..(/sarcasm) What I'd like to do in today's thread, is discuss your thoughts about the last few weeks in the Senate, and what you think the future might hold.

The House has either passed, or is getting ready to pass an bill that halves the amount we send to the UN, until they have made the changes that the US, feels the UN needs to make...

I think I heard/saw where the dems aren't happy about that, and there is a question about whether it will pass in the Senate...wonder if that bill will be worked into a compromise on Bolton's nomination?

Looking at the picture of Rachel Maddow---and the one of Tucker Carlson, there may end up being a big controversy over which one is the guy!!!

I agree that he has said that with legislation.

I've never seen or heard it about non-judicial nominations --- but would love to have what you state here verified or corrected.

I'll go spend 10-15 minutes looking for info... but that's all the time I have. I'll post quotes if I discover something. I'd appreciate others doing the same. It is a very important subject.

If that were to be done, it would make sense.

I enjoy your threads and commentary. My guess is the Dems will be afraid to filabuster because they'll get nuked so they'll try to slow-walk the nominees and force Bush to nominate "consensus" picks. They also try to pressure these compromisers to vote against conservatives.

The c-span 2 schedule shows a Senate Lynching Apology vote today, also...

Oh!!!

The Senate's finally gonna apologize to Justice Clarence Thomas?

For the high-tech lynching the Senate Judiciary Committee committed on him way back in 1991 ?

President Bush should invite the Freepers to the White House Now you're talkin'! But many of us lady FReepers would need the smelling salts.

Yeah, but some of the guys would need the salts for the twins (and sorry, since I can't post pictures, I can't obey the rules)!
