Calling Robert E. Lee a traitor is very silly. He was a loyal Virginian who kept honor by not betraying his own people.

Every traitor has GREAT excuses. They are still traitors.

Anyone who shoots or has shot at the AMERICAN flag has earned my contempt.

Agreed.......there were honorable men on both sides and flying the Confederate flag does more to honor those brave men and IMHO the h@ll with the ACLU and PC crowd.

Calling Robert E. Lee a traitor is very silly. He was a loyal Virginian who kept honor by not betraying his own people.

As a young topographical (clue) engineer with the U.S. military, Robert E. Lee found a way around Santa Anna's lines at Cerro Gordo (northwest of Vera Cruz) and was instrumental in the outflanking and rollup of the Mexican lines. All of this eventually led to the conquest of Mexico City and the defeat of the St. Patrick's Brigade, made up of Irish Catholics who deserted to the Mexican side due to religious affiliation.

As far as I am concerned, Robert E. Lee is a permanent hero and a fixture in U.S. history. Now see, it can be done without a single ugly word.
