It was great entertainment for us neighborhood kids who would run behind the DDT truck as it drove through the streets emitting it's mystical fog >>>>
I remember doing that with a bunch of other BENNY's at the Jersey Shore down in the Ortley Beach-Seaside Hights area. We used to call it the smoke bomb truck or the fumigating truck.

I can't believe what I'm reading! I thought my childhood buddies and I were the only one that ever did that. Back in the late 50's at Luke AFB (near Phoenix), the truck would come by once a week. We'd chase it down the road and get dripping wet from the DDT spray. Never gave it much thought until they banned it. Figured I'd be dead by now.
