They all embraced self reliance and self determination until the Socialist Revolution of 1937 and the Communist revolution of the 1960's taught them it's easier to be a child than an adult.

Very true. They want freedom, but once they acheive it, they think they can have their cake and eat it to. Hopefully, having to reacheive freedom after losing it to laziness ove time will lead to a permanent level of freedom.
