Just moved back to Upstate NY after finishing my military service. I love the area, and the family is here, but the various levels of government here drive me insane. Most people Upstate have conservative values but have been duped into believing that dems represent the little guy. Many of the republicans are either RINOS or former dems that switched parties. This state is regulated to death! There is a fee or a tax associated with just about anything you can think of. Ever driven through NY? First thing you come to after crossing over from PA is a toll booth. For all the taxes and fees there seems to be very little return. Where is all this money going? All the businesses seem to be leaving due to all the taxes, fees, regulations, and red tape. Ok rant off, but I hate what is happening to this state!!
Being the economic capital of the United States and the World is such a burden. While the cost of living and taxes are very high this is offset by us making more money and having more opportunities. I would'nt say its the percfect place to live for everyone but 20 million still live in NY state and an easy 10million in NYC as well. Its a great place to work and make money not really the best to retire.
And being that 50% of New York City is now foreign born (to which the mayor said that he will not enforce immigrations laws), you can expect taxes to keep rising as illegal immigrants continue to "benefit shop" as to which states hand out the most freebies. Liberals love to give away everything that they don't own!
Hillary Clinton - New York...be very careful what you wish for. Mrs. Clinton has made her pile now she wants yours.
