Thank you for your thoughtful mail. Perhaps you caught me at a weak moment. Just a little down and somewhat angry today (I think it's been building over time). I half-way listened to all I could of Judy Woodruff (with her smug mug), et al on MTP this a.m., and I wanted to scream.
I think we are somtimes losing the PR war (which is something perhaps we'll never win - not in the 'old media' anyway). I LOVE Pres Bush and totally support him, his administration, and our troops. While I'm not totally sold on all of his policies (such as immigration), I give him the benefit of the doubt for knowing more than we do/can know about what all is involved behind a specific policy (such as international relations), not showing all of his hand, and/or that they're still working through it. That said, I reserve the right to let them know when I'm not pleased about something (no point letting my senators know - Patty Osama Mama Murray and Maria Can't-do-well).
I just get sick and tired (as I think many FReepers do) of the constant lies, badgering, disprect, spin, exaggerations, and propaganda from the MSM and the leftists towards our President and our military. It's a constant drum beat and often times, IMHO borders on sedition. Then there's the disgusting RINOs. All of the foregoing often care about their own pitiful back-ends and power more than they care about the best country in the history of the world, it's military and citizens. I know the Pres doesn't look at or govern by polls, he does what he thinks is right and best for the country (he's said that many times and I believe him). Given his high morals, values, and standards, I'm glad he does. I also know (as I think I stated previously) the polls are normally slanted and it's all in the questions, how they're asked and who they're polling. But the MSM and the leftists quote them like they're gospel.
For now, the bashing, disrespect and slanting the records of well-qualified judges has subsided (wait until they bring SAAD up for vote and/or the Pres appoints someone other than a socialist Ginsberg-type to the SCOTUS). The topics for this week by the lameSM and the DIMS are impeachment and closing Gitmo. Where in the h*ll do they think we're going to put all those crazies in Gitmo if we close it down?? Turn them lose again to kill more Americans, Iraqis and Afghanis (like some that were released have already done/tried to do)?? Then it will be Pres Bush's fault (so what isn't these days). It's disheartening and sometimes painful to constantly hear bashing and lies told about people you care for, respect and are proud of, especially when those on the other side have a lot that could and should be reported on them, but the silence by the MSM and the left is deafening (as an example, I heard, perhaps on Rush, that Maxine and her staff and others took many, many more junkets than DeLay - - don't believe that's been reported anywhere else. Hitlery's little Hollywood soire where funds weren't reported is another example - yes, the trial was reported but again, the 'most intelligent woman in the world'(blech!) didn't know a thing about it or doesn't recall, so much for the investigative reporting). Thank G_D for the 'new media' and FReepers.
I think it was a commie that originally said, "repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it". Bubba and his gang proved that to be true and some people either failed to see through it and/or ignored it and he got re-elected and wasn't impeached (yes, I know, there were other reasons that played into both events). It scares the bejeebers out of me that Hitlery could get elected (sKeery and Gore came a little closer than I would have liked). Given the mess in WA state's election makes me think the DIMS are learning even more techniques on how to cheat, commit fraud and change election results.
I agree w you - momentum is on our side in Iraq (and Afghanistan), but you listen to the MSM and a totally different story is told - - it's basically how many Americans and/or Iraqis were killed and/or injured today and/or in total. How many military folks who have served over there have been totally disheartened and look in disbelief about the reporting - -many have said you'd think they were covering a different war. Where are the good stories - - such as the ones about all that our brave men and women are doing to rebuild the country and help the people? Perhaps, we shouldn't hold our breath to see those as they've been few and far between. Plus, they'd just make the military, our country, and our Pres look good.
I watch as many of Pres Bush and VP Cheney speeches as I can. They do a great job and I'm proud I voted for them both times and proud they are our leaders. I guess the point I was trying to make in my previous post is that I wish they'd get out there more so more people could see them and hear the truth, not the spin most/many Americans and others hear on and/or read in the 'news'. Let them be on the offensive and get the truth out first.
"I refuse to grant the MEDIA the right to define whether this war is being lost by constructing a poll to suggest that result. When I see the American people in majority start registering discontent in concrete ways- ...."
Excellent points. I also refuse to grant the MSM the right to define the sucess of the war and/or our Pres. Just one of those days when they were getting to me. Thanks again for your mail. It reminded me of things I know but made me stop and think about them, and I feel better now. Sorry if I did a little venting to get to this place and for being so long-winded.
Best,
SC
I would like to thank Ernest and all the FReepers for their support of our country, our military, our President and those things that we hold dear as Americans. You were the light in a window during a dark election cyle for me. I truly am grateful and honored to be a part of FR.
Thank you again Ernest, I am humbled by your generosity.
And I REALLY do love the President's swagger - you know that they call that walking in Texas.
Nice speech....walking eh...ROFL!
WoW SS...thanks for that great analysis! This thread is begging for a bookmark!
Perfectly understandable and I agree with much of what you said.
Vent anytime you need to, I certainly have no hesitation when I'm depressed or in a fury much to many peoples chagrin. LOL
The key is to step back. Assess the reality of the situation. Ex. If the American people are against this war, why did they re-elect Bush and send more Republicans to Washington?
The Libs would say it is because the Republican spin machine brainwashed us into believing something that went against our better interests. We all know this isn't true.
If we view the actions of Americans, a different picture is presented than what we are told in polls. Have Faith in the people that in their daily lives continually defy the characterization the beltway is trying to manufacture about them. They haven't a clue what any of us really believe.
It appears I didn't sufficiently make the point I was trying to make. I totally agree that he is a busy man - I watch what I can of his speeches in DC or around the country promoting is plans, policies and initiatives, and the oval office meetings before I go to work and/or catch what they replay on CSpin.
I also enjoy the "A Day in the Life" thread every day - one of my favorite threads here. I sometimes marvel at all he does in a day or week. What he does daily is more and much more substantive than the previous occupant of the WH ever hoped to do.
I didn't mean to suggest that the President has a total lack of communication. Pres Bush communicates just fine to *me* (and I believe most on this forum). I just want his word to get out directly to the American public as a whole, without the MSM and the left selectively editing and/or spinning what he says, only playing selective sound bytes and/or ignoring it all together. When Pres Regan felt his words were being altered and/or not getting out, he went over the heads of the MSM and directly to the people. I would suggest to you that President Regan was also a productive, busy president. As is obvious, I'm not a communications expert, so I'll leave it to the WH communications staff on best to handle it. Though, as an example, when the DIMS and MSM start talking about the Pres taking the "WHOLE MONTH OF AUGUST OFF" like they usually do, and failing to mention that he's on call 24/7, still has briefings w the Nat'l Sec and other staff, and all of congress is off, maybe he could have a mini presser or 1:1 interview or 2 from the Western WH or a mini-address to the Amercian people from the ranch in his jeans about what he and Laura have been doing (both from a work perspective and around the ranch). Just a thought to get him on the offensive. I care about this Pres and want so much for him to continue to succeed and I think he, Laura, the VP and Lynne are the best spokespeople for the administration and want as many people as possible to hear them and see them instead of the vile and spin that constantly comes from the MSM and the left.
Regards,
SC
I'm series, too. Will keep my eye on him. ;> The "they" are moving massively, under cover of "humanitarian" and "reparations" crapola to install West Coast (CA) liberalism in NC and SC. In fact, I'm keeping all three eyes open...
That is why I just could not handle settling there. Do you get Bill LeMay out of Raleigh, where you are? He was shining a massive spotlight on the "under cover" work of the NC legislature. He came on right after Rush.
In fact, I'm keeping all three eyes open...
Good - you may end up needing 4 before it's over. lol
The problem for the Dems here? Both parties resident in North and South Carolina still remember the "Civil War" (the most recent unpleasantness). Lib-Dems can only win if those "liberal bastions" like Wilmington and Chapel Hill "create" enough drama in the state.
Never, EVER underestimate the use of "political theatre" and "puppetry masquerading as "events" by libs. Will the NC MSM fall for it? Maybe. Frankly, I don't think NC Dems have quite what it takes, even with massive granting and funds from "other state" lib organizations.
People here do not forget, easily, "northern aggression"; and their views of "liberal" (west coast aggression "fruitcakes and nuts") aren't easily altered..
Hope you are well wherever you have settled! :)
When Pres Regan felt his words were being altered and/or not getting out, he went over the heads of the MSM and directly to the people.

I was not living in the States in the 80s, so I am not familiar with how President Reagan did this. That is what I am asking - in the way of suggestions. How did President Reagan get directly to the American people?
LOL! Yeah, I saw a little of that. I can't believe you told anyone where you were from...whataya nuts or sumpin?
Virginia - I'm in Virginia. So far so good. If I would stay off the computer I may get unpacked one of these weeks. ;*) You are probably all established in NC by now. I feel confident we will run into each other again.
:) Look forward to seeing you again.
I was getting something to eat and I thought about this...should I change out of my PJ's in case the secret service shows up? ;*)
Thanks for the honor.
THANKS, AB. :)
Thanks for the link. Very refreshing to read something like this.
