Jon Kyl would make an excellent justice. Might surprise some conservatives though with his decisions.

Nominate Sen. Leahy. Delay the vote. Ruin his reputation during the bickering. Make false accusations. Then vote him down. Ruin him. Others too.

Take a justice from a majority group that can't get the job done? Figures.

Cornyn would be acceptable.
But first I'd like to see Emilio Garza replace Rehnquist.

Nominate Sen. Leahy... Make false accusations.Don't bother with false accusations. Tell the truth about him. His actions to date have already ruined his reputation. Even some of his fellow Democrats know how bad he is.

Do you really want Janet Napolitano to have the power to appoint someone to a U.S Senate seat?

Nobody would care. He's a democrat. Hw would probably be approved.

Here's hoping O'Connor gets out of SCOTUS and quick.

If there is a Supreme Court vacancy this summer, President Bush may look no farther than the Capitol for a member of Congress who can be confirmed quickly.
With a 34% approval rating overall, this is a scary premise in general. And I'm harder to please than most because I care more about family values and the traditional interpretation of the Constitution and Constitutional law in USSC than I do about Repub/Democ, big business/little business, tree hugger/growth, etc, etc. Needless to say, the Senators from my home state (WI) are absolutely out of the question ...

Whoa.....thinking like a Democrat.
Do NOT let that kind of thinking take over or you will end up on the DARK SIDE.

Definitely. Garza's opinions are good, and it'll put the Senate Dems in a tough position: confirm a good conservative jurist OR vote down the 1st Hispanic named to the U.S. Supreme Court. Either way, it's a win/win for the GOP and Dubya.

If W doesn't get to do it, President George Allen should nominate Jeff Sessions. Or vice versa.

The chances are that Alabama will have a Democratic governor in 2007 (certainly if Moore is our nominee next year) so I don't think appointing Sessions in say, 2009, would be all that good of an idea
