Driver Arrested in Death of 2-Year-Old Inside Day Care Center's Van
The Associated Press
Published: Jun 10, 2005 MILWAUKEE (AP) - The driver of a day care center van was arrested Friday in the death of a 2-year-old girl who was left in the vehicle for hours on a hot, muggy day.

The body of Asia Jones was discovered Thursday afternoon when her mother arrived at the day care center in suburban Milwaukee and workers could not find the girl. Police say she could have been in the van since she was picked up eight hours earlier.

Officers arrested the 35-year-old driver and were holding him while seeking a charge of second-degree reckless homicide from prosecutors, police said.

The state on Friday also suspended the license of the Come and Grow With Me Learning and Arts Center. No one answered the phone Friday at the day care.

In Little Rock, Ark., a 3-year-old boy died Monday after being left in a day care van for hours. The driver, who parked the van in his driveway after skipping the boy's stop, was charged with manslaughter.

A 3-year-old Florida boy remained hospitalized Friday after being left in a day care van for hours after a field trip.

If I had a kid, there is NO WAY I would leave him in a day care center.

Are these three different stories?

Three DIFFERNET kids left in day care vans to die?

I stayed home. Passing by day care centers always made me cry when I drove past them after I had my daughter.

Around here I often see day care providers towing wagons designed to hold about half-a-dozen kids. Every time I see this, for some reason I'm reminded of the opening scene in Dickens 'A Tale of Two Cities'.

It was a wierd end to the article. I think referencing other events.

Just so sad. Can you imagine that poor mother picking up her child at the end of the day?

You don't have kids.

Therefore all you can do is "pile on" - just like the folks that hate Pit's.

I have kids.

I use Day Care.

I used to have two Pit's - - plan on getting another one.

Any more words of wisdom from someone that has no vested interest, other than telling me how they "FEEL" about this situation?

Pit's?

By the way: I'll comment on whatever I please. If you don't like it, go to the day care center and check yourself in.

Every daycare that I have had any knowledge about gets substantial funding from government...and that gives all taxpayers a 'vested interest'.

We have a neighbor several streets over who used to have a pit bull and used to have a child. Now they have neither.

I feel they should never have had either.

How do you feel?

Is this a new problem? I ask because I don't remember any stories like this for 10-15 years ago and now this is the 6th one I've read in one week.

I have a kid; I'm gonna have one or two more.

None of mine will see the inside of a daycare center, or a publik skrewl, for that matter. Daycare centerss are rife with illness and anti-social behavior. Why would you put you most precious little ones into such a place?

The most important job an adult has is raising their kids, yet most seek that fancy car or the expensive vacations and thus have two-earner families. What the kids want most of all is their parent's time and attention. What do YOU want most?

Methinks your priorities are screwed up. Don't like my opinion?? Tuff Chitski.

WAY!
The small fact that one needs to earn a living to support a child?
Do you think mommy's or nanny's are safer?
Or perhaps in your perfect dream world, nothing bad ever happens to any child in "mommy's stay at home while daddy works" households.
Trust me, bad things happen to people all the time everywhere.
Hopefully, the death of a child will never happen to you.
I wouldn't wish that horror on anyone, under any circumstances.
BTW, my child has been in "daycare" since she was six weeks old.

Sorry that you live in one of THOSE states.

I'd move if I were you.

Thirty children died in the United States last year when left in steaming cars. Since 1996, at least 150 have died of heat-related deaths in parked vehicles based on GM's research. Source

Get off your snotty, holier-than-thou high-horse. Show me where I ever stated anything about living in a perfect world. Also, show me where I ever stated that bad things do not happen. I made a statement, directed at no particular person. If you can't handle it, if it hurts your tender sensibilities, then maybe you ought to go crawl under the bed. After all, not everyone agrees with you, in your "perfect world."

Shouldn't there be someone waiting for the school bus that is dropping off a 3 year old boy?
How did "hours" go by before he was found. Sounds to me like the parents share a HUGE part of the responsibility on this one. I wonder if it will affect the amount of money they attempt to sue for?
... sign point to... no.

I don't see anything wrong with daycare if it is used the right way.I put my daughter into one when she was almost four years old.She was mainly there to socialize with other kids and get used to a school environment.I put her there two days a week for four hours a day and it helped her make the transition from home to school.

I feel just fine, moron.

The two Pit's I had were more interested in smelling the crappy diapers of my children and the neighbors children.

I'm betting real money that you have never owned a Pit Bull.

I'm betting that you are just feeling really good about saying Pit Bulls sould be banned, right?

What about the other breeds?

I'm betting real money that you are a liberal at heart - "I'll go with what ever everyone else is bitching about".

Tell me how do feel about guns?

You are a "make me feel good" freak, nothing more.
