I just got a call from the RNC!! those guys have my cell phone number! They tried to force me to give $150. I told them that if I donate, it would be by mail, and they said that they would put me down for $150. Then they wanted me to tell them what credit card I wanted to use!!!! This is nasty. If this is how they raise money, it is dishonest.
Wow, what an unusual money-raising method! They just send me letters, and I donate by check. I wonder if it's a scam, are you sure they're from the RNC?
That is one of the reason that my land line is not listed and when I fill a form in for whatever reason I never put my phone number.
If they will not let me proceed without a phone number I put my works phone number down but do not indicate that that is what it is.
Of course then when double glazing salesmen, fund raisers etc dail the number they get a firm and 9 times out of ten do not go any further.
The RNC always does that to me. I just laugh and tell them there is no way I can give them that kind of $$$. Occasionally I'll settle on $50 with them, but not with my credit card. I make them send me the confirmation letter and envelope and then I send a check.
Be careful if they are calling you. At one point last year - just before the election - they were calling frequently and I was also receiving their mail and e-mails. I got confused and gave them much more $$$ than I intended! Keep good records.
They call us all the time. And won't take NO for an answer. Lately (since I live in CA and am rankled about the border issue), I tell them
NOT ONE RED CENT UNTIL THE REPUBLICANS CLOSE THE BORDER.
I can almost hear them sigh on the other end, but they do shut up.
