There is one part of [McCain's] record, however, that the press almost never asks him about. They never ask why this decorated navy pilot and Vietnam P.O.W. has spent so much of his time and energy as a senator pushing through legislation to block the release of information about American P.O.W.'s and M.I.A.'s who are still not accounted for.

McCain and Kerry sold out the remaining MIA families back in the 90s for political gain (in McCain's case), and for financial gain in Kerry's case.
~ping~
yep.
McMainiac will tell you everything if you flash the red queen.
I give up. why?
Well, to be fair, nobody hardly even remembers the Keating Five Scandal, either. Nobody ever seems to ask him about the failure that Campaign Finance Reform was, for that matter.
McCain has always been an egomaniac and a drama queen. I rather think that if it weren't for the Hanoi Hilton bit, the people of Arizona would toss him out on his ear.
when I first read Schanberg's various allegations about this situation, last year, esp on Kerry's role, it has stunned me that no one, not even the Swift Boat vets, brought this subject up during the campaign [read his two articles on this subject at the Village Voice]
esp since Schanberg is a Pullitizer prize winning liberal journalist who is no Bush lover
esp since Kerry's role as Chairman of the Committee on POW/MIA Affairs was his only leadership in his whole Senate career and from what Schanberg alleges, Kerry either was wholly incompetent or he was purposely participating in a cover and rush to normalize relations with Vietnam
Schanberg, a veteran war correspondent from the Vietnam War, in fact was very pleased that Kerry was appointed, he thought Kerry, being a vet, would leave no stone unturned in making sure all the POWs were accounted for etc......and he was bitterly disappointed......
one of the most shocking allegations by Schanberg is that Kerry staff was caught by CIA agents shredding confidential information, and when they were told to stopped, they were smug and continued on.......
now I don't think Schanberg brings this up but the familes
of the POWS and MIA Affairs say the reason Kerry was in a rush was because his cousin's company, the cousin being a Forbes, was in line for $900 million dollars of reconstruction work in Vietnam (no doubt brokered by VC loving Kerry in the first place) and construction couldn't start until normalization began
to me that alone should have totally scuttled Kerry, esp given his phoney reporting to duty convention speech but we got the MSM droning on and on about Bush cutting out early on his reserve duty??????????????????????????????????????
the only reason I can think is that some other Republicans, like John Ashcroft, were also involved in this Committee so are the Republicans afraid to bring up this subject matter......
I am no McCain supporter but I don't believe anything from the Village Voice.
Interesting post on your first day here member #211,558
What do you think about the article?
It's a M.A.D. little world in Washington D.C.
I've always wondered about McCain and Kerry and this issue.
More from the "No Bush lover Schanberg:
"On the plus side, increasing numbers of AmericansRepublicans as well as Democrats, judging from opinion polls and other signpostsare coming to realize that the administration of George W. Bush, albeit with his smile and aw-shucks, down-home demeanor, has constructed an imperial and extremist presidency this country has not seen the likes of before. Secrecy and disinformation rule, all of it crafted to push through an ideological agenda. Average voters, for example, now understand that this White House, on a regular basis, lies to the citizenryas it did to rush the country into the Iraq war with neither an honest premise nor proper planning or preparation."

As Admiral Jeremiah Denton about McCain.
Will you answer the question I posed in #9 or is this a hit and run hit piece?
They just might boot him out yet AZ_Cowboy......hopefully soon! He's nuts!
Dude, that's messed up.
You know, that and the fact that McCain somehow found it possible to forgive (or overlook) Kerry's traitorous actions after he weaseled out of Vietnam make me wonder if there isn't a very significant skeleton in McCain's closet.
Or if he has just gone nuts. I base this on the McCain Feingold campaign finance "reform" legislation.
Can anyone be so clueless?
ping
Ping [re Kerry's staff destroying POW/MIA sighting records in Bangkok, inter alia]
His entire political career has been dedicated to his accumulating money at the expense of principle.
