WASHINGTON -- The Army on Thursday issued a fresh denial that it attempted to cover up the friendly fire death of former pro football player Pat Tillman in Afghanistan. The Army said procedural mistakes were to blame for its slow acknowledgment of the circumstances of Tillman's death. Tillman's parents have criticized the Army for waiting weeks to tell them his death was accidental and did not result from enemy fire.

I'd say that all soldiers and sailors that have died from friendly fire in the history of warfare have made the same ultimate contribution as any other person that has died. Same with accidents and those that died of disease they would never have contracted if they had stayed home.
Yeah I feel this is a complete blow up by the LSM. Now, unfortunately, their bias has gotten to the parents of this brave man so the Army is being made to answer for things that happen in WAR.
What is the saying for that?
Shit happens. In this case it was unfortunate shit.
You already know this, but 15-6 and Article 32 investigations take time even under the most benign of conditions. Add on the fact that this operation where fratricide occured and where at least a portion of the investigation was conducted is in a hostile area, that members of the 2nd Ranger Battalion don't stand down over an investigation- they continue to conduct missions worldwide, plus the victim in this case was as much celebrity as he was soldier, and it's a wonder the Army was able to complete their investigation within the timframe that they did.
yep. You are completely correct. But the MSM doesnt expect the public to be edu ma kated
:)
I don't understand any of this. The reason is I heard shortly after he passed that it was friendly fire. I don't have any feeling it was on purpose either, justy being in the wrong place at the wrong time. God Ble ss Tillman and all who have defended America.
Yes it was friendly fire. I believe all this crap is because the army did not reveal as soon as it found out that it was friendly fire.
It could be true. Alot of stuff can happen in that situation. It's very easy to point the finger at the Army, but until you've been on a convoy or a foot patrol you don't know what I'm talking about.
Then again, with the amount of bullsh*t paperwork we have to do in the Army that could have screwed things up as well.
Not saying that you're accusing anybody of anything or that you haven't necessarily been in that situation. It came out wrong. SORRY!
I guess we can keep doing this until we get it right.
well it is a typical MSM trick. make a story where there is none and then scream it at the hills. Some will eventually believe what you are saying...
that said, Tillman caught some M-60 fire (it might have been M249 fire) and died in combat. enough said. As NH says below, the army has MOUNTAINS of paperwork to do just because of a casualty. Add to that it was a green on green incident AND a death just adds to it. Then, of course Pat was a celebrity because of who he was before he was in the military....
the MSM is shameless....
The only addition to your comments is that even the Washington Post reported that the Rangers hammered the entire Chain of Command.
But none of that diminishes Tillman's heroism. Friendly fire casualties are part of war and that does not diminish Tillman's heroism.
So How many times do they have to say no?
They are shameless and they are on an all-out assault on our military and the mission. Every day that I look at a newspaper, magazine, or television I am amazed and appalled by how blatant their animosity is. The Islamofascists have no greater ally than the Left and their cohorts in the media. It is dangerous, deadly and depressing.
