I have turned in several Chinese restaurants over the years to the taxman because it was evident that they did not keep tax records, ie, no register tape, that they did not calculate tax correctly, did not collect tax, and did not offer a register slip with a credit card receipt. All of these things are against the law in New Hampshire and at least one restaurant has closed down that I turned in. If they ring in a no sale on the register the only way they can be charged is if they get audited and present dated records of order slips in consecutive order. The problem is, they use order slips that are duplicate numbered that allows them to escape the audit of the taxman.

The FROBLs would argue those points until you are fed up with their nonsense.

Pay by check or credit card and when you turn them in, include your data.

And probably every other group in China also. I was amazed when I read that some of these people pay $50,000 to the coyotes for a trip from China to the US.
Somebody has some laundered cash. Lots of it I guess.

You've got to wonder who is behind the explosion in the number of Chinese restaraunts in Michigan.
I like my local Chinese restarant "owners" and would hate to think that they're just pawns for the Chinese mafia. Even worse if they are exploited illegals who now will be sent home after they've seen the good life here, while being screwed outta their money.
This is the second scandal to hit this industry here. A couple of weeks ago a truck (driven by a Chinese national who spoke no Engrish) was stopped when police were alerted that it carried meat in an unrefrigerated truck. No, it wasn't dog or cat. Yes, it was gross.

Anyone with a commercial drivers license must be able to speak English. I wonder what the officer cited him for other than bringing Chinese standards to America.
peterbilt, do you have the link with CDL's and speaking English?

Ever wonder why the usual FROBLs never show up to defend non-hispanic illegals?

Living in Reno, Nevada, the few times I go down to a casino with my wife, we see a lot of Asians gambling as if the next tsunami will be tomorrow. They can't get the machines to take the money fast enough. ... I'm not sure where they come from, San Francisco and Sacramento I presume. Some of them might be from Hawaii (wave the shaka sign at them and see how they react :-). Nearly all the time when I ask people in my work community where they are going on vacation, they say Las Vegas or Reno. I don't understand the appeal, myself.

The bright lights, entertainers, good food and the chance to be a winner is what drags most average folks to open their wallets and spend. Plus the fact that all/most of the good sites are close to each other.
There is more plain clothes private and city cops and camera sites than you can shake a stick at if you did a 360 swing, so they feel safe. They have figured out how to keep just the right number of uniforms out where visitors see them without being offended.
