MANCHESTER, N.H. --The grandfather of a 2-year-old "mystery girl" was arraigned Thursday on charges of possessing pornographic photos of her.
Police say they were led to Richard Hawes, 63, of New Boston, by a clerk who found sexually explicit digital images on a self-serve photo kiosk at a Manchester CVS store. The clerk went to police who, desperate to identify her, released other photos of the girl on Tuesday. They said they had credible information the toddler was in danger and that her parents might not have known about it.
The girl's father, Jeffrey Hawes, of Winter Park, Fla., saw the photos Wednesday on national television and called police, according to an affidavit filed in Manchester District Court.
Jeffrey Hawes said his father had visited the family in Florida about four to six weeks ago. During a police interview, Richard Hawes said he had taken sexually explicit photos of his granddaughter with his digital camera, the affidavit said.

Yuck!
How could someone travel through 63 years of life and appear normal...only to have such a perverted dark side?
Apparently, Grandpa is not only a sick bass turd, he's also a complete moron.
Not only do I feel horrible for the little girl, I also feel bad for her father. I can't imagine what it must be like to find out that your own father had molested your daughter.
Holy God. He was bound and determined to get those prints.
I'm nausesous.
Another story like this and I'll just quit.
I would personally pull the trigger.
I can't load the gosh darned story... :(
I know - they seem to be crawling out of the woodwork like cockroaches ever since the internet. It seems like the internet was the outlet they needed.
Tall tree. Short rope.
Why is the girl in the care of the authorities though? That one I don't understand.
Poor baby.
I don't know what to say really.... just poor little girl.
I would be afraid to give that girl back to her parents without a real good check on them too.
If you believe the so called experts, Pedophilia occurs most frequently in those that were abused themselves. The son may know very well what the his father is capable of.
Much more easily than you think.
Last week, the former principal at the high school I attended (he was my grade 8 science teacher) was convicted of accessing child pornography websites.
Everyone who knows him was shocked beyond belief, including my father, who was a principal in the same school board with him. He enjoyed a solid reputation as an educator and community leader until now. No one who knows him would ever have suspected him.
It only goes to show that you really don't know anyone.
I guess. The system in Florida is so scary though it boggles the mind.
I know. And if my father did something like this (I know he wouldn't), I'd have to kill him, father or not.
It happens everyday.
"I would be afraid to give that girl back to her parents without a real good check on them too."
ditto that. Just in case it runs in the family.......
