I vaguely remember the first one. It wasn't really high on my to do list (I was 11).
The only thing I recall was Phil Collins playing at both concerts, and I think I only know that as trivia, not an actual memory.
Also was thinking how do you think they know it is xmas become an anthem for supporting a bunch of communists/islamists killing a bunch of animists and some Jews?

I was 11 that summer and I remember being thoroughly disappointed that the event did not appear to live up to the hype. I had just started paying attention to music within the past year and actually liked "We Are the World" the first 150 times I heard it. It was fun to try and pick out the different voices on it. (We did not have cable, let alone MTV, until my mother finally gave up in 87.)
