In case anybody is wasting as much time as me on this thread to find out the bottom line, here it is, thanks to a Google search:

"Maine Republicans Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, and Rhode Island Republican Lincoln Chafee voted against Pryor. They were among the 14 senators who signed the agreement on filibusters.

"Two Democrats who helped negotiate the deal, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Ken Salazar of Colorado, voted for Pryor."

Bill Moyers is probably upset today, which means I'm elated.

:)

Judge Pryor is a great American. I've got stories galore of his honorable deeds and work here in Alabama. He'll be true to his heritage and core character, which bodes well for all decent Americans in our future, too.

He would have made a fantastic governor, just as he'll make a superb jurist.

"Filibustering an executive branch nominee, essentially a cabinet appointment, is even more ridiculous and untenable than filibustering a judicial nominee. They WILL not win on a nuke vote there: if they even try it, McLame and Hitlery will make sure that Frist gets at least 50 votes Aye.

No one who has any aspirations of being president wants their picks for Cabinet positions subject to the whims of the 40 "whackiest" Senators from the other side of the aisle."

You sir, are correct.

"He would have made a fantastic governor"

True, but that position would have been a waste of his talents and honor. Being the Governor of Alabama is more of a deal-making, power-broker position...for a position with little power to broker or deal...than any worthwhile national position.

...And we're already sending good, solid, Conservative Senators to D.C., so again, his talents were redundant to that position, too.

But the release said they had other memos. In one memo it says that Cheney spends his weekends "fixing" his car, and also a report that once every couple of months the new Secretary of State can be caught getting her hair "fixed".

There's a whole lot of fixing going on. Isn't the 9/11 commission back this week trying to "fix" the intelligence around their new ideas?

Meanwhile, they won't be investigating Kennedy getting his fix of scotch.

I hate to agree with a democRAT, but Levin is right. The Republicans did indeed nuke many of Clinton's nominations without so much as a committee hearing.

Perhaps, but the Republicans were the majority in the Senate then and now.

Yes, Allen has the potential to be the Senate version of DeLay, just without the ethical baggage.

DeLay has no ethical baggage. It's all made up by the DemocRATS... just implanting the thought in people's minds. Say it enough times and even Republicans will believe it's true.

BTW, Lindsey Graham's silly little comment to the reporters about how this all worked out so peachy made me wanna smack him across the face, but that would just make him look better, so it's just as well. I think he believes his wife's telling him he looks photogenic when he's exercising his POWER.

I didn't hear see or hear those comments

That is hilarious. Blitzer played the comments seconds earlier for Harman. Harmen should have just said "I'm sorry I didn't hear your question...Sorry I missed the question again...Still not listening, and now I have to go vote. Bye."

LOL! I liked him in the Joseph Campbell series, but aside from that, blech...

Anyway, you got your wish from yesterday! Good news, again.

I say this as I'm drinking some herbal tea in the hopes of falling back asleep for an hour before the day starts. Yes, I'm an insomniac. :)

I am trying to remain non-worried about it. Kerry's best made plans to destroy George W. Bush, always seem to blow up in his face and the fact that Kerry is not out there trying to use it today is a good indication that they have nothing. Apparently this memo was written before Bush went to the UN and compared notes with Germany and France, etc.
Plus from a practical standpoint can you honestly see Tom DeLay allowing impreachment proceedings? This ain't 1972, we are not going to fall for it this time. The Democrats don't understand that they are no longer in charge of anything.

I strongly agree with this statement. Rep. DeLay already told the Dem's if you got it bring it, they are still walking around making snide comments. They have nothing!

I tend to agree with that assessment.

I tried watching the Joseph Campbell series-it's one of the mainstays of PBS pledge drives-but just couldn't get into it.

As for the insomnia, I have that problem as well.

Hope you were able to catch some zzzzs.

I think it wasn't that she didn't hear about the comments but rather she didn't get the talking points yet on how to respond to it when asked.

Correct, and also when the dems owned the senate after jeffords switched, they also ran out the clock on hearings.

In fact, they even went so far as to recess the senate for over 30 days, which terminated every one of Bush's nominees, forcing him to re-nominate every one of them.
