Bush dinner's porn star: I'm a praying Christian
WorldNetDaily ^ | 6/8/05 | Joe Kovacs

Posted on 06/08/2005 7:39:02 PM PDT by wagglebee

Mary Carey, the buxom porn star slated to dine with President Bush at a GOP fund-raiser Tuesday, says despite her racy occupation, she's still a Christian, and has her own aspirations of winning the presidency in the future.

"I read the Bible and pray every night," Carey told WorldNetDaily in an exclusive interview.

The 24-year-old actress will accompany her boss, pornographer Mark Kulkis of Kick A-- Pictures, at "The 2005 President's Dinner and Salute to Freedom," costing $2,500 a plate and hosted by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

"We're not the freakish demons people make us out to be," said Kulkis. "I'm not a creep with a coke spoon around his neck. I'm a regular guy."

But the idea of the president of the United States rubbing elbows with pornographers is shocking to some, including Rev. Don Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association.

"The reason these people are doing this is for publicity and to embarrass Bush," Wildmon told WND. "I think the Republicans can survive this, but they need to go public with an explanation. They need to exclude them or withdraw the invitation. Just doing nothing is the worst thing they can do."

Having just received her plane ticket from Los Angeles to the nation's capital, Carey said she's excited about the possibility of speaking personally with the commander in chief.

"It would be an honor to meet him," she said. "I'd like to talk to him about issues like freedom of speech and the crackdown on the adult industry. Maybe he can give me some political pointers."

The actress says it's among her dreams to eventually become president, and that's why she's getting involved in politics now.

She previously ran for California governor among a large number of serious and not-serious candidates in the wake of the recall of Gov. Gray Davis, resulting in the election of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She's currently considering another bid, deciding whether to run for governor or lieutenant governor, where she says she might have a better shot at victory.

"People can relate to me," she said. "I come from a middle-class household and I'm very friendly."

Carey, whose real name is Mary Ellen Cook, says she was named after the Mary Ellen character on "The Waltons" TV show. Born in Cleveland, she was raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., studied theater in college, and worked jobs in restaurants before trying stripping and then making the decision to enter the world of celluloid sex.

"I kind of wanted to be a porn star," she said. "I wasn't raped or abused."

With a Lutheran grandmother, Carey says she attended church regularly until the age of 12, and still considers herself a Christian in spite of her occupation.

"I probably have less sex with those guys than any college girl [typically has]. It doesn't make me less moral," she said. "I'm sure a lot of Christians have had sex before marriage. God reads my heart. I'm a good person. ... I think I have more morals than the politicians in office. I don't rob, steal, hurt, or lie – a lot of politicians do that."

When asked about Bible verses condemning adultery, she responded, "Bill Clinton committed adultery. [Doing] adult movies is acting, portraying a role. It's not Mary Ellen Cook, the real me."

She maintains pornographic movies don't harm anyone, and are beneficial in a way, providing safe fantasies for the "lonely" public.

Last month, the actress was among five people arrested at a new strip club in a suburb of Tacoma, Wash. All were accused of violating the local adult-cabaret ordinance, some by getting too close to customers and others – including Carey – by touching themselves in a sexual manner, according to the Associated Press.

Kulkis, 40, says he'll be representing the $10 billion porn industry as well as his own company at the fund-raiser. A native of Michigan, the English literature major turned pornographer says he'd be surprised, disappointed and upset if he were somehow turned away, but he doesn't expect that to happen.

"I have good intentions," he said. "We're not out to corrupt the country. ... You can be faithful to your wife and still enjoy adult movies."

Kulkis has mixed feelings about Bush, describing himself as a fiscal conservative and social liberal. He also notes the trend of pornography becoming more prevalent and accepted in American society.

"Let's face it," he said. "You had [hard-core porn actress] Jenna Jameson's book on the New York Times best-seller list for weeks. Porn now is pretty mainstream."

WorldNetDaily readers have a wide variety of views about the upcoming dinner:

* "The Republican tent is broad and needs to cover all people – even those with views and lifestyles with which we disagree." (Thomas R. Moore)

* "It hurts for self-respecting citizens to watch their leaders play the fool for influence ... Let's not let those who abuse their bodies, and our children's future, buy a voice in this administration." (K.R.)

* "Mr. Bush brings many virtues to his job. But, he refuses to lead on important moral issues. When Janet Jackson outraged Super Bowl viewers, he professed to be asleep and ducked the issue. ... [T]here is a vacuum of leadership on issues important to this country. Yes, Mr. Bush can and should speak to the issue." (David Wallace)

* "Look how far the Republican Party has come in just two decades: from Reagan's Commission on Pornography, under then-Attorney-general Edwin Meese in 1985, to today, porn stars invited to a White House fund-raising gala. The leadership of the Republican Party has lost its mind." (Brian Hudgins)

* "Basically politicians are prostitutes anyway. Why should there be a problem associating with porn stars and entrepreneurs?" (Ken Zwick)

* "If you stop and think about it, you can see where Bush might be her hero. I can't think of anyone who has screwed more people in such a short period of time. Especially the veterans." (Fred Perry)

* "Why wouldn't they use porn stars at a fund-raiser? Porn stars are about 10 steps above politicians. At least they are honest about what they do. The real question is why would the porn stars want to degrade themselves?" (Bob Bolton)

I understand, but what of those who feel remorse for those human actions, yet for some reason can't remove them from their lives? It's like those traits are hardwired.

Nothing is impossible for God FRiend? John wrote the Book of John to evangelize the sinner, he wrote the Epistles of John to edify the Saints.

All Christians at some point have doubts about their salvation. John is simply telling you that doubts are OK...all Christians have them. Doubts are good when they are warning signals. They are telling us that there is something wrong with our spirit. He didn't want people to decieve themselves and say they are saved if they didn't see a change. He's tells us we should repent and ask Jesus for help. He's saying you should get saved.

Personally, I had a problem with smoking(cigars) and drinking in my past...I justified the destruction of my body by saying it was legal. Much like this young woman is doing. Then I was convicted after reading Leviticus 10:9 when God said that no priest should share his word in the temple after they imbibe in strong drink or wine. "Lest ye die."

Well, as a Christian I know that I'm the priest and as a Christian I know that the new testament temple is my very own body. I also know that as a Christian and a father that I should be a witness and should share the Word to everyone...especially my family.

I suggest getting to Church first...surround yourself with the brethren. Next I would bathe any problems I have with prayer and give them to God. Lastly, I would read the Bible a little everyday. Hearing God's word for one hour a week is not enough. Start with yourself and let others in your family see the change in you. Eventually they are going to want whatever it is that is filling your life. Try it.

These type of guys think they are God's "minders," sent here by God, to keep folks from sinning.

Jesus repeatedly taught men to judge rightly, insisting they "judge with righteous judgment" (John 7:24) and He praised a man who "rightly judged" (Luke 7:43). Paul shamed the Corinthian Christians because there was no one among them willing to "judge the smallest matters" (1 Cor. 6:2). As the Apostle wrote, "He who is spiritual judges all things" for "we have the mind of Christ" (1Cor. 2:15-16).

To abhor evil, someone must first judge evil. God instructs men against "hypocrisy" commanding them to "abhor what is evil" (Rom. 12:9). Thus, unable to judge, and unaccustomed to abhorrence, Christians en masse become hypocrites when they obey the Hypocrites Golden Rule. For "judge not" (Mat. 7:1-5) is simply a hypocrites application of do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Mat. 7:12). "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged" (Mat. 7:2). Judge others as you would have them do unto you inverted is Judge not if you do not want to be judged. Therefore the hypocrite does not judge. As Jesus said, "Judge not… you hypocrite" (Mat. 7:1, 5 KJV; Ezek. 16:52).

"Start judging now, because you will need the practice" (1Cor. 6:2-5) said Paul. Remember, "he who is spiritual judges all things. For... we have the mind of Christ" (1 Cor. 2:15-16). And God will reward those who judge, and do the hard work: "Those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them." (Prov. 24:25).

Jesus said, "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment" (John 7:24)

It is better to be judged by a Christian than crushed by Christ.

You and your kind are more merciful than Christ?
Very very doubtful.

You might want to consider doing a word study in the original text of the greek nouns and verbs forjudge, judgment, condemn, curse, damn... and particularly the related verbs in active, passive and middle voice.

they are not all interchangeable... even though in many cases for brevity sake the translators used them... of course they expected you to take into account the historical, geographical, cultural, political and temporal contexts, when applying it to your OWN historical background, cultural background, geographical location (you are not a roman per se, or an ephesian now are you), cultural mores and customs of the people it was written to, the political canvas of the time on which the information is displayed and the TIME in which it was written.

judging righteous judgment would involve doing ALL of that, in cross comparison with the actual contextual meaning of all those scriptures... and then overlaying those various things onto your OWN life BEFORE you paint YOUR understanding of THEM lifted out of context in many ways... and hit someone ELSE Over the head with them.

When God directly and eternally damns Rahab, Tamar, Ruth, Esther, Bathsheba and the other women of ill repute (as they were considered in THEIR cultural context) and does so in his next book along with the adulterous and incestuous male counterparts aka patriarchs like abraham, david, jacob, solomon, amos (for marrying an actively working prostitute, gomer per God's command) and the other males of ill repute for their serial marriages, extramarital adultery, sex with slaves, prostitutes and other mens wives...

get back with me.

until then, I will consider all of them and myself: sinners who sin every day, in need of grace and recipients of the mercy God extends to sinners, every day, just like He does every day when the sun comes up... again.

you and yours have built a twisted little theology of mistranslational scripts assembled to justify your pharasaical cult... of self appointed 'whore damners.'

enjoy your lifetime of obsession with jugding others.
for that is likely all the joy in this life you will ever have. And consider this transliteration:

"he will have judgement, without mercy who has demonstrated a lack of mercy, whereas the merciful can laugh in the face of judgment."

Jesus said; Father forgive them for they KNOW NOT what they do...

But your preference is perhaps: Father forget what Jesus said, and go ahead and damn these sinners and especially this whore, for she clearly knows what she is doing (despite what Jesus told you)... and I am going to make sure every body else knows what I think YOU think she is too... because I have the mind of God... see here Father... it's written in the bible 'I have the mind of Christ' see?

rofl.
good luck with that approach.

I typed a long winded response Robert_P...but my dial-up connection ate it. I'm either too lazy and/or pressed for time (both actually) to retype and footnote the info... But in a nutshell, ministering to the lost can involve more methods than just meek prayers. Depends on the situation... of course..

"It doesn't make me less moral," she said.

You are voluntarily, of your own free will, participating in pornographic movies. Yes, it does make you less moral.

Next time you are reading your Bible, please turn to the story wherein Jesus confronts the accusers of the woman caught in adultery. After refusing to condemn the woman, Our Lord admonishes her: "Go, and sin no more."

I consider myself a conservative, but I don't really have a problem with her. She's a voter too, and has not done anything dishonest.

I don't think she would be a good president, but she would be a lot of fun after a few too many drinks.

You totally misquoted scripture.
In-fact you are arguing against it.

A man had two sons; and he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.'
29 And he answered, 'I will not'; but afterward he repented and went.
30 And he went to the second and said the same; and he answered, 'I go, sir,' but did not go.
31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Look here:

32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the harlots believed him; and even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him.

She is NOT repentant.

And you saying the Pope is not?

Matthew "was" a tax collector.
Paul "was" a Pharisee who killed Christians.

The parable means that harlots and tax collector's
will get into heaven (because they repent of their sin)
before one who is unrepentant.

1 Corinthians 5: 1 - 13

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons—
10 not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world.
11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of *brother or sister
23 who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one.
12 For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge?
13 God will judge those outside. "Drive out the wicked person from among you."
