Decent border protection *is* a good thing, and yes I think we can do better. But unless you're willing to shut down all international airports... the way that the 9-11 al Queda hijackers got into the country... the solutions need to be somewhat more comprehensive.
Including shoreline the U.S. has over 22,000 miles of borders. "Sealing" this is like trying to "seal" the equator. I'm not saying we shouldn't try, but I am saying that it is a singularly nontrivial problem. One way to help a great deal is to try to separate the people that are the real problem from the people that really aren't the real problem.
Seems like a place to start.

He's gonna fly the illegals back to Mexico, deep into the interior so it will take them a couple of months to wend their way back to the border again. That'll slow the influx some.

The problem is not just potential terrorists. The problem includes people coming here as common criminals to prey on our citizens with the huge attendant costs. The problem includes those coming here to suck off the largess of the American taxpayer with its significant impact on American families. The problem includes our loyal citizenry being diluted by those who owe no allegiance to our country or its founding principals. The problem is no less than the potential for the destruction of of our country, as we know it, and our cherished way of life.

Actions speak louder than words or in this case inaction.

They don't want to be a legal citizen. That's why GWB's premise is wrong. These illegals want to exploit the system. After they pass this disaster and no one registers, is GWB going to then call for deportation??? No. I don't think so.

All I can do is join with the other 80% of Americans that feel the same way I do and encourage everyone to vote these goons out of office and replace them with 'anyone' who will put America first. 80%?
Opinion is divided on eliminating public assistance, such as education and health benefits, to illegal immigrants and their children. Forty-three percent of Americans favor stopping public assistance for illegal immigrants, while 45 percent oppose it.
Even so, a 62 percent majority, including almost equal majorities of Democrats (65 percent) and Republicans (62 percent), favors allowing illegal immigrants who have jobs in the United States to apply for legal, temporary worker status.

Well, got something besides that non-answer? I take it that you only want to hire illegals to save on the money and accounting - nothing more than pure greed.
YOU, SIR, ARE THE ROOT OF THE FRICKING PROBLEM, AND DESERVE DEPORTATION ALONG WITH YOUR ILLEGAL EMPLOYEES WILE YOUR BUSINESS IS PUT UP FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.

What EMPLOYER doesn't know to have their employees fill out an I-9? Well... I'll plead ignorance of whatever the HR department of the company must do. But I have been instructed that when doing interviews there a whole host of questions that I cannot ask. Marital status, citizenship, blah blah...

The 9/11 hijackers had 64 drivers license between them. Are you for allowing illegals to have drivers licenses?

" I sense a shift in the mood of the country and so must Karl Rove. President Bush will have to adjust " It isn't President Bush who is adjusting, it's the rest of the nation that is coming around to recognizing the need for a guest worker program, something he called for six years ago and has consistently repeated.
I think you and the other anti-illegals have misunderestimated him again.

You want to continue being a jerk? Fine. I'd think anyone with a brain would recognize sarcasm. Clearly no real poll has a 100% outcome. You and I've had several exchanges over the years and I don't remember you being so damn ornery.

One way to help a great deal is to try to separate the people that are the real problem from the people that really aren't the real problem. The one major flaw in your reasoning is that all illegals are a problem. They simply don't deserve to be here.
