Laci Peterson's Mother Writing Book, Geragos Talks About Scott - (to Larry King...CYA maneuver)

The mother of murder victim Laci Peterson is writing a book about her experiences. Sharon Rocha is expected to provide a revealing look at the celebrated Laci Peterson murder case in her book, “For Laci.” The book has been listed on the website of Crown Publishing, a division of Random House.

Peterson’s stepfather, Ron Grantski, told the Modesto Bee that he would be helping Rocha write the book.

“A lot of truths haven't been told, and I kind of think they should be,” Grantski said. "Everyone has written little bits and pieces. This story is going to be a good one."

Peterson’s husband, Scott Peterson, was convicted of her murder and the murder of their unborn son, Conner. Scott Peterson has been sentenced to death for the crimes under an unborn victims law opposed by groups that favor abortion.

Rocha’s book is expected to be released in December.

Among the others who have written about the case are Amber Frey, Scott Peterson’s mistress who testified for the prosecution at his trial, and Scott Peterson’s half-sister, Anne Bird.

In another new development, Scott Peterson’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, says he considered putting his client on the stand during the famous murder trial.

Geragos told talk show host Larry King of CNN, “Absolutely, I considered putting Scott on. (But) ultimately at the end of the day, I didn't think they had proven their case.”

Geragos says he believes Scott Peterson is innocent.

“I went in there, and I took that case, and I became convinced (of his innocence),” Geragos told King.

“I talked from the heart to the jury. And I said, look, there's no harder thing for me to do than have to sit here and beg you to spare his life, when I believe this (that Scott Peterson is innocent), and that I felt, you know, as a—as a lawyer, you cannot feel any lower than in a death penalty case to have somebody that you truly believe is innocent, to be convicted and then be sentenced to death," he added.

Geragos said he expected a hung jury, given the fact that prosecutors had no eyewitnesses, no weapon, and no exact cause of death.

“I thought it would hang,” Geragos told CNN's King. “All indications were that this case was going to hang going into it. I think prior to all of the problems inside of that jury room, this case would have hung.”

Geragos believes the removal of jurors could be a part of Scott Peterson’s appeal.

“All of that stuff (proceeding removing the jurors) is on the record," Geragos told King. "All of that stuff was subject to the motion for a new trial, and all of that stuff will be part of the appeal."

As far as how Scott Peterson is coping with life behind bars, Geragos called the convicted murderer “enormously resilient.”

"He has been throughout all of this I think, enormously resilient, and one of the things, without breaching confidentiality because he's said it to others and not just to me, but he said, look, after my family was killed -- the fact that they're blaming me for it -- pales in comparison with losing Laci and Connor so as I'd indicated before, either the guy's the greatest sociopath of all time or he's innocent."

the guy's the greatest sociopath of all time

Lawyers' words about Scott Peterson...out of context in this case, but correct IMHO.

Too bad that weight he lost isn't concentrated above his shoulders. THAT would be fitting punishment.

I'm not an author, and if my daughter died I wouldn't try to 'cash in'. I know she may have "a story to tell", interesting that it will cost money to hear it. I wonder if she plane on donating the profits to charity for abused women. I'll wait and see.

I wonder how long until Petterson's book will be released.

I wonder how long until Peterson's book will be released. He has no reason to put out a book since he wouldn't be able to prifit from it.

Sharon Rocha, you have my vote as Mother of the Century. I will buy any book by Sharon Rocha and support your cause. The truth is that the absolute scum of this earth have written books about their sorry lives and profited from it.

Not to categorize these people as the scum of the earth but, here is my short list of literary imposters: Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, OJ Simpson, Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein, John Kerry. Fill in the blanks. There are scores of people who have profited by publishing and getting rich by writing about their distorted views of history or sordid lives.

OK Sharon, I am for you. I'll take your side. From Simon and Garfunkle:

When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Peterson's biggest mistake was that he didn't move to Utah first. They are much softer there on folks who murder pregnant wives.

I think she has something she needs to say. I don't see it as cashing in! If you saw all of the lies others told, it would make sense to set the record straight.

Scooter needs to have some company inside the big house

......or, he needs a scooter to get around with, when he's out in "the yard."

Scotty-the-Scooter has proven unreliable while in automotive vehicles.
