All Reds? You're saying Canada is 100% Republican??? As far right as we are, we know a 100% right-wing society, anywhere, is unhealthy...
To: Heartofsong83
Uh, no. I was pointing out that in the U.S., calling liberals blue-staters is inaccurate, that liberals are all Reds. Please excuse any inaccuracy in my post.

Speaking of postive images of Canada,
I just rented The Snow Walker, directed
by Charles Martin Smith of Never Cry Wolf.
What a great picture. Beautiful country up
there in the frozen North!

Red regions: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, interior British Columbia, central/eastern Ontario, southern New Brunswick The 'Red' region, Saskatchewan has an NDP (socialist) provinical government, to the left of the Liberals.

I believe the NDP has led governments in British Columbia and Ontario but it has never won power on the federal level.

Along with at least four other public commentators, I have recently been served with libel papers by a leading figure in this story. Because National Review is distributed in Canada, and therefore can potentially be reached by Canadas more restrictive libel law, I have to be a little circumspect in what I say here.Ah, intimidation is so much fun...
To: GMMAC; quidnunc
Thank you both for that information. I couldn't find it in the article or using Google.
Do let up on them, quidnunc.

The only reason Ontario keeps voting in the Libs is because we've filled it with daft immigrants.

Yes, but very marginal (didn't the Conservatives actually beat the NDP in the popular vote?) - and Conservatives dominate federally. The NDP support there (old-style labor, which is falling apart) is not the same as the Toronto NDP support (dominated by gay activists, screw family values)
To: Allan
British Columbia: destroyed in 2001, but now back to their traditional coastal base...
Saskatchewan: enormous urban/rural split, plus it is the homeland for the party
Manitoba: somewhat of an urban/rural split, plus the NDP there is more 'moderate' than you expect (more like a Liberal government - still center-left)
Ontario: destroyed in 1995, unlikely to ever come back to high levels
