Salazar asks Mexico to return suspect By Lynn Bartels, Rocky Mountain News June 8, 2005

U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar told the U.S. and Mexican attorneys general Tuesday that a suspected cop killer nabbed in Mexico should be returned to Denver to face a possible death sentence.

Mexico does not extradite its citizens if they face the death penalty or the possibility of life in prison without parole. But Salazar, a Democrat and former Colorado attorney general, says exceptions should be made in "extraordinary circumstances" such as in the case of Raul Garcia-Gomez.

Salazar is completely useless. He knows 1) Mexico won't release the cop-killer and 2) people in Colorado will appreciate Salazar's effort.

The weird thing is, I appreciate the effort anyway.

Yep. Can't remember who competed with Coors in the primary, but I remember I liked him :)

Salazar is grandstanding. He knows Mexico would never extradite if the killer faces the death penalty or life without parole. Of course, even with promises to not pursue either of those sentences, I still doubt they'd extradite. What a wonderful neighbor they are.

That was Bob Schaffer, former congressman from the 4th district. I believe he would have beaten Salazar.

I can't help but think that a lot of conservatives refused to vote for Coors in the November election after Coors and Gov. Owens stabbed Schaffer in the back during the primary. Owens had agreed to support Schaffer as the Republican candidate, then broke his agreement to support "Big Name" Coors. I will always think poorly of Owens for that.

Owens also ticked me off by giving in to the Dems on changing TABOR without getting any concessions on Amendment 23.

I'm not sure Shaffer would have won. Campbell screwed us by waiting so long to pull out of the race, which left any pubbie candidate behind the eight ball in organizing a campaign and raising funds. Plus Shaffer needed more time to get his name out in parts of the state where he is not well known.

I was going to say, did Ken-boy get permission from Nancy Pelosi before he opened his mouth? If not, she will put the clamp-down on him real quick. Ken-boy is Nancy's little pet squirrel.

it's smart politics for Salazar, who's shown himself to be no dummie (an amazing feat for a Dem). Mexico's refusal to return a cop killer cannot do anything to endear the Mexican-American or illegal Mexicans in the US to American citizens. As Salazar would see it, it could be the tipping point in CO for tolerance of illegals in their midst. NOt unlike the Dutch doing a 180 after the murder of ONE Dutchman by a Muslim radical.

Owens has never been a strong conservative. It's always amazed me when Republicans float his name as a presidential possibility. Though I think with the Democrat takeover of the state house in November, the chances of his being a candidate have been shot. Fine with me.

Notice the first thing the Democrats did when they got power in the state? They went for our money.

Find out where this individual is being held. Have a stealth fighter deliver a guided 500 lb bomb.

Message delivered. Next time send us the b@$t@rd, or we'll use a 2000 lb. bomb.

LOL! And the gay agenda. They are predictable, aren't they?

IMHO Owens is finished as a Presidential candidate. He should have run for Senate in 2004, although he hadn't worked through his personal issues at the time, so that wasn't really in the cards.

And here's the punchline "Currently, five Colorado murderers are serving prison sentences in Mexico even though their crimes were committed here.

Colorado has issued about 250 outstanding homicide warrants. About 50 or 60 of them are for Mexican nationals who are presumed to have fled to their native country, said Kristin Hubbell, spokeswoman for Colorado Attorney General John Suthers."

Mexico seems to be supplying us with as many muderers and criminals as landscapers and chambermaids.

Interesting you should mention landscapers...I am a landscaper, and I will not hire any Mexican, legal or illegal, until this issue is resolved- must be a US citizen. Is it any wonder that they do not treat our prople like they would have us treat their people? I am for a BOYCOTT MEXICO policy. It is a case that the people have to make a voice because the government will not.
