Retired Man Was Working As A Favor
WHITLEY, Ky. -- Investigators are trying to determine what caused the tailgate of a dump truck to give way, burying a Kentucky man under hot asphalt and killing him.
The accident happened in Whitley on Monday, Louisville, Ky., television station WLKY reported.
McCreary County Pastor Jimmy Tucker was killed.
Tucker recently retired from a construction company, but was working one more week as a favor, WLKY reported.
He was looking at the back of another truck that had broken down when the gate opened, causing up to 10 tons of asphalt to fall on him. Investigators said Tucker died instantly.
Another worker was taken by helicopter to a Tennessee hospital for burn treatment.
Hey, I'm just giving some back on all the bad karma I've already gotten!
Live by fire and brimstone; die by fire and brimstone
You're a killer ping.
Why'd ya do it?
Something on a par with a Seinfeld episode.
One of my childhood friends ran across the road barefoot right after the paver laid down the mix. We were 4 years old.
Not like they could dig the guy out with their hands. He was probably beat to death with shovel blades.
You absolutely know I didn't have you in mind.
Tommy Smothers probably had you in mind when he said, "Mom always like you best."
You must be a riot at a funeral.
As Charles Barkley said, "I am not a role model"
That is a very significant quantity. I suspect that the bed was at least partially raised.
Not the best idea to walk behind a dump truck with a raised bed. As he learned, if a FNG unlatches the gate, you're toast.
yes, he learned the hard way, or rather, he learned too late.
A friend of mines elderly aunt died and he was at the funeral with his young nephews. The body is laid out in the casket, holding a boquet of flowers.
One of the young boys looks up and says: "Uncle Joe, why is she holding those flowers?"
Uncle Joe doesn't miss a beat and replies: "At the end of the funeral, they throw them up in the air and whoever catches them dies next."

I can think of plenty other worse ways to die. Spending a year(s) in a nursing home without your dignity is one. I would CHOOSE this over plenty others. Still a tragedy. Still prayers for his family.
I saw the picture and thought it was Chris Farley with grey hair.
"Buried under ashpalt, AKA Sleeping with the Hoffa's."
I think Hoffa was either shredded and used as fish chum or else took a dive into a vat of molten steel.
That aside, does anyone know the temperature of a load of paving asphalt?
about 350 degrees.
Between 375 and 440 degrees.
(poor man)
hot enough to cause excruciating pain is all I know. Even if it was cool, the weight would have crushed him.
