Great opening Dolly.

Mrs.Nooseman ...

"I brought you into this world and I can take you out of this world"!

I heard that all the time growing up. Not from my parents but from neighbors. They'd be yelling it- usually at one of their sons. :)

Morning, Dolly. One of my favorite quotes:

Other People's Expectations by George Bernard Shaw:

"The only man who behaved sensibly was my tailor; he took my measurement anew every time he saw me, while all the rest went on with their old measurements and expected them to fit me."

Another great quote from a great lady whose birthday is today:

And who knows? Somewhere out there in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow my footsteps, and preside over the White House as the president's spouse. I wish him well!

This is a funny line, from my (current) favorite movie, "The Writer" (Jeremy Piven...sigh ;)

Hostess to woman arriving at her party...
"How good to see you! If I'd known you were coming I would have sent you and invitation!"
LOLOL Funny, huh?

I'll be back later, hopefully with a ta(i)l or two. Have a great day everyone.

One of my favorites came from Rufus Jones, the great Quaker philosopher, as he overheard a group of us young Philosophy students arguing about which was the best religion: "Gemtlemen, gentlemen, thee does emphasize the differences too much, and the similarities not enough."

Amazing! I cannot estimate the time and effort you put into this. For me, it was worth every minute and ounce of sweat . It is much appreciated. Thank you Dolly.

Hi, Dolly

Thanks for the thread today. I've been occupied over at ATRW and live thread as usual. I enjoyed your opening here, too.

Oops --- thunder - and expecting some nastiness - better go now.

You did a great job, once again, Dolly!

A few Albert Einstein quotes come to mind as favorites....

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is."
"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."

My favorite authors are a real mixed bag: Ayn Rand, James Herriot, Dean Koontz, James Michener, Tom Clancy, Ann Rice, John Grisham, Charlotte Bronte.....and so many more.

I have many favorite movies, I think I listed them on your Star Wars thread, so I won't again.

I guess it says a lot about a person what their favorite books and movies are. I have no idea what it says about me. LOL!

Also, that's a very nice Pledge graphic you've done!

Thank you for the thread today, ((((((((((((Dolly)))))))))))).

My favorite authors are Susan Howatch and Edith Wharton who wrote about the lost world of old New York. Taken from the Introduction of her Omnibus "she had a total mastery of English." Edith observed that: "My parents ears were wounded by an unsuitable word as those of the musical are hurt by a false note. This feeling for good English was more than reverence, and nearer: it was love." Edith Wharton wrote 'The Age Of Innocence' which was later made into a movie by Martin Scorsese.

Love the whole book of Proverbs for it's wisdom and guidance.

Great thread, Dolly :-) I could go on and on, but I will try to keep it short. My favorite word is zephyr, has been since I was a youngster. Story behind that word...remember the show 'Hazel'...well, one episode she decided to learn a new word every day, picked a word at random from the dictionary. LOL, so I guess I was emulating 'Hazel' and did the same, one of the words of the day for me was 'zephyr' and has been a favorite word of mine ever since (the 60's)

Dutchess, I can't tell you how many time I heard my Mom say..."If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all", grew up hearing that one and still try to take that advice. I also heard "the door goes both ways" LOL, I knew I was really being bad when I heard that one.

Thanks for the ping. (email, actually)

A great new one that I heard the other day:

If you can't change the people around you, CHANGE THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU!
