Thune is angry at the republican senate leadership and rightly so. In the latest round of base closings, SD was on the list. What a stupid move, since this has a dramatic impact on that state's economy, and to load that crap on a rookie senator is bad form. Why didn't the senate leadership close something in Arizona to get back at McCain? I think the republicans are not showing effective political leadership, and it shows.

If I am wrong about this, I know I will be corrected, but I believe that the BRAC commision was removed from influence, to the extent possible, of the parties some time ago, since it made it impossible to close anything. That would make Thune wrong to expect to be rewarded by leadership

The senate doesn't have anything to do with the BRAC list--and besides, they are supposed to have hearings all summer in different parts of the country...

Perhaps Thune could have been more effective working behind the scenes, and going to the hearings, instead of throwing a public hissy fit and possible being the swing vote to keep Bush's nominee from getting the position...

WHICH, I would like to remind these idiot Senators, is a position that is NOT a lifetime tenured postition, like SCOTUS---therefore, if Bolton doesn't work out...

he isn't going to have to be there...he can be replaced!

This is so much ado about little by the dems and the RINOS that are using this to make points....stupid
