The Huffington Post ^ | 6/7/05 | Arianna Huffington

Abercrombie and Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of anatagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions.

In protest, we will not allow articles of clothing displaying their logos to we worn, carried or displayed. (even if covered or masked in some way)

Interesting. There are some really nice denim shirts at Landsend.com. In fact, they don't even look like denim. Can't imagine banning denim.

I think this policy is setting a good example in word and deed.

True. Isn't it the kids choice to go to Bob Jones?

BJ is very misunderstood especially by Catholics. BJ is very outspoken against Catholisism. (as you probably know) but other than that they are a straight shooting bunch and I say God bless them!

Sorry, thought you were comparing long hair and a beard to the 'light porn' of the Abercrombie and Fitch marketing tactics.

Hopefully. Just like it's the kids choice to go to the U of Colorado at Boulder. That never stopped me from pointing and laughing at the goofball hippies on campus. Heck... the fact that they chose these things makes it all the funnier.

Long hair and a beard is not the issue .. and you know it.

How hard is it to read the damn link in my post? Here, I'll quote it for you:

Hair must be cut in a traditional, conservative style–not shaved, spiked, tangled, or shelved. It may not be colored or highlighted.

Sideburns should not extend past the middle of the ear. Men are expected to remain clean-shaven.

Now, if someone would only explain to them why people laugh at their BJ UNIVERSITY bumper stickers.

It is a private school (I'm not sure I'd call it a university and they're certainly within their legal rights. And it's perfectly reasonable to insist that whatever students wear is reasonably modest. However, it strikes me as stupid in the extreme to ban a brand because you don't like their views. Discourage it by publicizing their attitude, sure. But the ban, even if an item is reasonable and modest just makes them look ridiculous to average Americans. Waaaay over the top.

So the kids will get laughed at if they don't wear A&F clothing?

I don't purchase Liz Clairborne clothing .. Liz supports the church of Satan. I don't care to help her support that kind of evil.

That one is as about as true as the P&G legend. link.

Guess Jan Couch is not an alum.

Joking aside...

In fact, it's an interesting post. There is nothing wrong with the actual A&F clothing line -- it's pretty traditional stuff. However, the marketing is pretty risque and overtly gay -- particularly the catalogue. So, they are "protesting" the marketing and not the product.

The whole catalog is way worse. Even with safe search it was dicey to look at!
