It is a private school (I'm not sure I'd call it a university and they're certainly within their legal rights. And it's perfectly reasonable to insist that whatever students wear is reasonably modest. However, it strikes me as stupid in the extreme to ban a brand because you don't like their views. Discourage it by publicizing their attitude, sure. But the ban, even if an item is reasonable and modest just makes them look ridiculous to average Americans. Waaaay over the top.

Waaaay over the top. Most Bob Jones students are preparing for a Christian ministry of some type. They expect to be laughed at and ridiculed by unbelievers, and I am sure most of them are already accustomed to it long before they reach the college level. I have been laughed at myself for my Christian beliefs, and if I were not ridiculed by unbelievers now and then I would know that I am not being a true follower of Jesus Christ.
In case you missed reading about it in the gospel accounts of his life and death, Jesus was ridiculed and cursed as he went around Judea ministering to the poor and oppressed common folk. The bible tells Christians that we will also be ridiculed and hated if we try to follow his example. As always, it is correct.
